“I attended the Galentine's event last month and had a wonderful time!!! It was my first time visiting the winery and I will definitely be back for future events, happy hours, brunch and all the above! Our host Maddie provided OUTSTANDING customer service!!! She was extremely attentive and a delight to interact with. The place is very nice and clean. The decorations were very pretty for the event too. I highly recommend anyone stopping in for a great experience, delicious food and wine!”
“I attended the Galentine's event on 02/13 at Messina Hof in Richmond. This was my first time visiting and I was so impressed upon walking in. The place is beautiful and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The event was held in a private room and it was decorated so nice! We were so fortunate to have Maddie as our host! She is such a sweet and kind soul! She took such great care of us and was so engaging, just a great person! This was their first time having this event and I think they did a great job with planning. The food was delicious and of course the wine was perfection! I cannot wait to go back and experience more of what they have to offer! I have to share that I called today and spoke with Megan to tell her about my experience. She was super sweet and appreciative of my positive experience call. I say this to hopefully inspire people to share your great experiences more! Yes, businesses need to know when mistakes were made but that applies to the good also. Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Richmond location! You all are doing a phenomenal job!”
“We first stopped at the main location in Bryan, TX on our way home and ended up joining the VIP Premiere Red Wine Club. We were thrilled to learn there’s also a location close to us in Richmond, so naturally, we had to check it out. We’ve been a couple of times now and overall, we truly enjoy the atmosphere and vibe at the Richmond location. It’s relaxed, welcoming, and has the kind of charm that makes you want to linger over a glass of wine. On our first visit, my husband ordered the hamburger and said it was very good. I went with the pasta special — poblano chicken penne — and loved it so much I ordered it again on our second visit. Interestingly, the dish looked quite different both times, with noticeable changes in presentation and ingredients (possibly different chefs?). Unfortunately, the consistency wasn’t quite there. The first time, it was much more flavorful and satisfying. This time, I had to ask for salt and pepper to bring the flavors to life. My husband ordered the Douglas-“Shepard Style” (with meatballs) and absolutely loved it — a beautiful balance of basil, oregano, sauce, meat, red pepper, and crust. He said the mix of flavors and textures worked perfectly together. We also enjoyed our complimentary glasses of wine from the VIP membership. I had the Paulo Blend, a bold and full-bodied red that I really enjoyed. My husband tried the Petite Sirah Private Reserve. Normally, I’m a big fan of Shirah, but this one was a bit too overpowering for my personal taste. We also split a Paulo Cabernet Franc, which turned out to be a lovely medium-bodied red — smooth, pleasant, and definitely one we’d order again. For dessert, we shared the Blueberry Lemon Cream Cheese Bread Pudding with Emblaze Sauce — and wow. It was absolutely amazing. The bright blueberry, tangy lemon, creamy cheese, and warm bread pudding all came together into one indulgent, perfectly balanced bite. A true palate pleaser. Overall, we really enjoy the experience here, with just a few small hiccups. Both visits were during the daytime and fairly slow, which leads to my only real con: I understand that wineries are typically more laid-back, but since it wasn’t busy either time, the wait staff moved very slowly when taking orders. In the evening, that relaxed pace makes sense and feels appropriate — but during the day, some guests may be working within tighter time constraints. It might help if staff simply asked guests whether they have plans afterward, so they can better gauge the level of urgency. A small adjustment like that could really elevate the daytime experience.”
“I celebrated my birthday here with some girlfriends. The atmosphere was nice (we had a private room). Room could use some instrumental music; we used our phones to play music which was fine. The food was hit or miss for our group of 6. My one friend really liked her lemon chicken, another friend sent back her shrimp and grits. The grits were really thick. Our waiter stated they were working on the recipe. I liked my white fish with risotto just felt like a kids portion. Two friends had the pork chops and both said it was tasty with good flavor just a little cold. The best part of the meal was the hummus and the spicy ache dip. The spinach dip is out of this world and the best any of us have ever tasted. If we come back it’ll be for the spinach dip and wine. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the wine tasting experience was nice. We even received souvenir wine glasses to take home. My group of friends and I can have fun anywhere and make the most of situations so we did have a good time.”
