“Tour was awesome. Came for the whiskey but fell in love with the vodka and gin. Will need to stop at the bar and try their cocktails next time. Update April 2026: Came back. Visited the bar. Agree with everyone else. Cocktails are excellent. Went home with one of each bottle. Need to try the uber-fancy Predictum (sp) 15-year. Maybe for Christmas 😍. PS: Upgraded review to 5/5. “After discovering their bourbon on a shelf some time ago, Minden Mill had been on my radar for a while. When my buddy and his wife came into town for his birthday, it felt like the perfect excuse to finally make the trip. Spoiler: it did not disappoint. We arrived just after opening at 2pm and were immediately struck by the building — it's genuinely beautiful, the kind of space that sets the tone before you've even had a drink. We were greeted by Ryan, who was professional, warm, and clearly passionate about what he does. The tour itself was one of the best I've been on. Ryan packed it with information — not just about the distillery's process, but about the history of Minden and the Gardnerville area. It was engaging, educational, and genuinely fun. I walked away with stories and facts I'm still repeating to anyone who will listen. Our tasting covered four pours: vodka, single barrel, bourbon, and the Goodnight Bourbon. The regular bourbon lived up to everything that put this distillery on my map in the first place. But the real surprise of the day? The gin. I'll be honest — I wasn't expecting much. But this gin is unlike anything I've tasted. It has earned a permanent spot in my home bar for those occasional gin martini nights. And if you have any love for espresso martinis, do yourself a favor and pick up a bottle of their coffee liqueur. It's exceptional. After the tasting, our group headed upstairs to the bar — which, by the way, is open to everyone, no tour required. We ordered an espresso martini, a gin martini, and a meringue-tini. Each one was distinct and impressive in its own right. The bar staff couldn't have been better — they had a real knack for highlighting each spirit in a way that spoke directly to your taste buds. It was the perfect way to close out the afternoon. Minden Mill is the kind of place that checks every box: great craft spirits, a stunning venue, an informative and entertaining tour, and a bar that keeps the good times going. “Minden Mill Distillery is a wonderful place to visit! We are very fortunate Foley Wines bought this property because they have really brought it up a notch! Whether you like spirits or wine, there is a great tasting available here. The tour we took yesterday was the best distillery tour I have ever had, even in Kentucky. Ryan provided both fascinating local history and everything you would want to know about the distilling process. The tasting afterwards was outstanding! Even if you do not care for alcohol, the renovated historic mill is worth the visit just to enjoy the ambiance. Highly recommended! On the latest visit we were fortunate to try one of Danni's latest cocktail creations, a lemon lavender concoction made with lavender from Sierra Shadow Lavender Farm, a fantastic local experience. This drink, made with Minden Mill spirits, was to die for! I hope they make it part of the menu! Danni is the cocktail magician!!”
“A lesser known treasure, whether you want a first-time distillery tour, or a repeat-visit to just enjoy the 2 unique bars. Impressive renovation of a historic mill, keeping massive wood beams & lots of natural light blended with beautiful new flooring & open spiral staircases. There's also ample view areas from the bars of the distillery area, which showcase the crafted copper pot stills like works of art. Main floor offers merchandising & starts tours, while floors 2 and 3 are separate bars. Spiral staircases separating them are fun to use, but elevator access is also available. Bar offerings include both whiskey flight tastings or drinks, but other distilled liquors are also served. Service was great- thank you, Phoebe. She was cheerful and quick to greet, knowledgeable about tasting & cocktail choices, and able to handle other questions about the property. Parking on the grounds can be limited during peak times, but street parking is also available. A suggestion would be to consider using some of the parking dedicated to only e-vehicles for general parking, and for some of those spaces to offer more handicapped parking that is closer to the building entry. “Wonderful visit! Dani was our hostess, her knowledge about the wine I sampled from the Foley wineries was awesome! Her professionalism and hospitality was off the chart. The charcuterie player from chef cynthia in Galena was off the chart. Highly recommend this gem.”
