“Where this tasting room is located I s pretty unique. You can see the water. There is some cool historical stuff around the area. The tasting room was somewhat like an open warehouse which was nice. They have plenty of drink options if you don’t want just whisky. The food we got was pretty darn good. The entire table agreed that the chili and corn bread was phenomenal. If you are looking for a spot to enjoy of sips and get some good views of a boat then this place does it. They even had a roof top bar!”

“Newer whiskey distillery on mare island, this used to be the old savage & cook. This was my first time there and it is such a vibe! Their whiskey tasting was amazing and super strong!! I had their Manhattan and got pretty drunk quickly and it was really good! They just opened up their venue space upstairs and it is so nice!! They have your traditional American bar food— fried pickles, curly fries, sweet potato fries, sliders, pizza, and salads. Great for groups or bar seating. The staff are very kind and friendly and parking is really easy! Such a hidden gem in Mare Island!”
“Had to stop by this distillery and experience. Have tried a few in Missouri, but was able to taste others I can’t easily access. Their Screaming Titan is lovely! The cask strength pipe dream was my second favorite. I’m not much for ryes, but they tasted good for what they are. We also tried some food while there. Did the hot dog with tots, chili and cheese. Unfortunately they forgot the hot dog and brought a plate of tots with chili and cheese. They did correct this for me. Great service on the correction. Also tried the fried pickles and the pies. I would pass on both. The fried pickles are sliced thinner than a chip so you don’t get the crunchy pickle center. The pies are the size of a thumb and leave you hoping for another bite. The lemon curd top was too burned. Service from the bartender was fantastic! Wish I got her name to put it here. Self service for water and condiments was a little confusing, it’s behind a decorative wall and the warmers next to it make it seem it’s not for customers.”
“Redwood Empire Whiskey Distillery, tasting room and restaurant is located on the historic Mare Island. The location and atmosphere could not be better. The distillery is located next door in another building. I am not sure if they give tours. The restaurant and tasting area is nice and there were a nice crowd of people at lunchtime on a Friday. They are working on a very nice tasting lounge in the rear which is much larger than the front room. I definitely would return for a tasting and some food when I return.”
