The wines were precise, expressive, and beautifully reflective of Santa Maria Valley — especially the single-vineyard Pinots, which showed real nuance and structure without being overdone. What stood out most was how educational and immersive the experience was. It didn’t feel scripted or commercial- it felt like a deep dive into site, farming, and style. You can tell there is a strong philosophy behind the wines, and that level of intentionality really comes through in the glass. For anyone who loves terroir-driven Pinot Noir and wants something more serious than a typical tasting room visit, Native9 is absolutely worth it. “The “deep dive” tour was well worth the (gorgeous) drive from Santa Barbara. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed spending our anniversary trip learning about the land, family history, and cultivation practices at Ranchos de Ontiveros. Though the wines are delicious and diverse in their own right, our guide Wes truly stole the show! This fellow University of Redlands alumnus is brilliantly smart and was a delight to speak with. We would love to visit again.”

“I have had the great fortune of visiting some of the Central Coast’s top vineyards. This one was by far the best experience and in a class by itself. No detail was overlooked — from the wine, to the detailed directions to the vineyard, to the history of the ranch, to the smell of the old cabin — together they made for a simply delightful afternoon. Wes is so very likable and is such an accommodating host. We found the wines to be incredible — knock your socks off Pinots. (But truth be told I found the. Chardonnays even better).
