noda is the reimagination of a traditional omakase built around the guest experience. Classically trained in edomae, Chef Shigeyuki Tsunoda has relocated from Ginza, Tokyo to bring his culinary philosophy to New York. He is supported by a team of sommeliers who oversee one of the most extensive Japanese whiskey collections and who have curated a wine, sake and cocktail program specifically for the meal. All guests are seated at noda's counter; an 800-pound piece of unfinished wood that is sanded daily and designed in the shape of a half-moon to allow Chef an up close and personal experience with each and every guest. We serve twice nightly at 5:45pm and 8:45pm and ask that you please arrive on time to enjoy the complete dining experience. For private events or parties larger than 4 guests, please email events@noda.nyc. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
“What an incredible place. The food was the best meal I’ve ever had. The chef is amazing and so kind and humble. He literally cuts every single vein out of the fish in prep. The service was amazing. You can tell they care so deeply about everyone who walks in there. I’m pretty sure they research you to make sure they can tailor the experience towards you and your likes. They’re aware and present and available without it feeling stuffy. Three hours went by without me even realizing it. I left stuffed w the best sushi I’ve ever had. My girlfriend and I are sober and they were incredibly accommodating and had some delicious non alcoholic drinks and through all the toasts remembered and brought alternatives and gave us champagne we could drink to celebrate the birthday. I can’t think of another dining experience that compares even at other Michelin starred restaurants. I don’t think I can go to a different sushi/omakase place now.”
“I chose this place for my husband's birthday dinner, and the entrance alone set the tone. Walking into the secret space and waiting for the curtain to drop felt like the start of a show! Every single dish was delicious. I’m usually a huge Uni lover, but the other courses here were so outstanding that they stole the show. My personal favorite of the night was definitely the Unagi absolutely amazing. The service was truly next-level. Both the manager and the chef were incredibly attentive and observant; they anticipated our needs without being intrusive. As introverts, we really appreciated how they balanced friendly small talk with giving us space. They really knew how to "read the room" perfectly. A few minor notes: Even though I mentioned it was a birthday celebration, there wasn't a special dessert dish or candle. They did offer a celebratory shot at the end, but since we don't drink alcohol, we missed out on that. Regarding drinks, I had read other reviews mentioning a potential push for alcohol orders (since there are no add-on options), but we didn't feel that pressure at all. As soon as we ordered soft drinks, they immediately took the hint and didn't force anything on us, which we appreciated. Overall, I highly recommend this spot for a delicious Omakase meal and a unique vibe, rather than strictly for a special "event."”
“No words! We went last night and the whole experience start to finish was an exceptional experience. From the ambiance, the service, the professionalism and quality of food… and sake lol. One of the best omakase experiences I’ve had. And the best in NYC hands down. Can’t wait to go back!! Shout out Tim, chef Noda & Jimmy! You guys are incredible!”
“This is such a special place — you're in for a treat! We've been coming here for our anniversary for the past two years and it's wow'd us each time. There are only two seatings a day and 8 seats in the entire restaurant, so a very intimate experience. The chef and staff are chatting with you the whole time and are so knowledgeable and talented. They often research their guests as well — they knew all about my partner's work and running hobby. (I guess I was harder to find info on!) The food (as well as sake/wine pairing, which I highly recommend) is SUCH an experience. The best sushi I've had, hands down. Everything is presented so beautifully as well — each new sake and/or wine is brought in a new gorgeous glass. This is always at the top of my recommendation list for friends and family seeking the right spot to celebrate a special occasion.”
“A wonderful and memorable meal and night. From food to service the entire meal was excellent. The 22 courses is well balanced and perfect amount of food. And for those who enjoy omakase the experience still helps teach you more about the meaning and process behind everything chef tsunoda does. The restaurant is just as beautiful in person too. We will be back for sure.”
