Aba, meaning father in Hebrew, is a Mediterranean restaurant with a California influence. The menu features Chef CJ Jacobson’s modern approach to Mediterranean cooking and the beverage program showcases spirits and rare wines from lesser known Mediterranean regions. Signature dishes include Smoky Garlic Hummus, Muhammara, Shawarma-Spiced Skirt Steak, Grilled Salmon Kebab and more.
“Aba is a hidden Mediterranean gem in Chicago’s West Loop, located in the Fulton Market district next to The Dalcy—just take the elevator upstairs. The beautiful décor makes you feel like you’re dining outdoors, with patio seating also available. We loved every shareable plate, especially the Crispy Short Rib Hummus, Whipped Feta, Crispy Chicken Thighs, Crispy Potatoes, and Lamb & Beef Kefta, all served with warm homemade bread. The food was outstanding, but the hospitality made it even better—every staff member greeted us with, “Welcome, friend.” Our first visit, but definitely not our last!”
“Great food and awesome atmosphere. Went for lunch and also had great lunch drinks. The spreads are always phenomenal. We got the whipped feta and the crispy short rib humus. Steak frites was a highlight, we paired this with the brussel sprouts. Honestly mixing things with the spreads was the best part. We will be back!”
“First time dinning here, came in for lunch on a Saturday. We had the crispy short rib hummus and charred eggplant to start which were both phenomenal. We split the chicken kefta kebab with the Greek village salad which was light and flavorful. We planning on hopping around places in the area and didn’t want to have anything too heavy. All of the drinks we had were very refreshing with lots of unique flavors. We finished off with the creme brulee pie which matched rest of our experience at Aba, unbelievable! Our server Colleen and the GM Zach were both were hospitable and attentive. We will definitely be coming back for dinner next time to order more food items.”
“Some of the food was great. Our waiter suggested to order around 5-6 plates for two, but I think it was too much food for us. We order the Hummus short rib, the Muhammara, the Chicken thighs , the Shawarma steak frites, and the Falafels. The muhammara, the hummus, as well and the crispy chicken thighs were delicious! But the falafels were over-fry and super dry, and the shawarma steak and frites were ok nothing out of the ordinary. We were celebrating my bday and they brought me a surprise sorbet dessert- which I thought was a very sweet of them! Since we had so much food we didn’t have room for an actual dessert from the menu. The drinks were good as well as their service! I will definitely go back and try their brunch next time.”
“Beautiful atmosphere the best service. I especially enjoyed the dips and appetizer plates. The meats (kebabs and skirt steak) were not to my liking but I know people who would like them. The whipped feta and roasted garlic hummus are worth a repeat trip.”
