“We had a great dinner at the Barking Frog. The food was delicious, wine was great. The presentation of dishes was real art.And the service was excellent. Our waiter Lam was very helpful, professional, and friendly. We really enjoyed that restaurant. I am definetly coming back here next time I am in Seattle.”
“Exceptional doesn't sufficiently describe dining here. Everything about the food was, in my opinion, very hard to top. I savored every single bite that crossed my lips but my salmon dish was my favorite. We shared a fresh bread basket with herbed butter, a fromage plate, carrots and beets as well. The wine selection is gorgeous and the service was attentive, not intrusive. I am sure it will be years before I experience another restaurant like Barking Frog! Run, don't walk, to try this incredible dining experience!!”
“Delicious freshly-picked ingredients from a neighboring farm, knowledgeable server Victoria gave great service, inviting warm decor with original artworks. Beet salad was inventive and full of vibrant flavors and topped with crisped garlic. The "ecolibrium" salad was incredibly fresh. The scallops with celeriac, lime, and vanilla sultanas was such an artful combination of flavors that really combined beautifully. The duck with umeboshi sauce was not tender and the skin was not crispy so it was a bit of a disappointment, but overall the meal was delicious and artfully presented.”
“We tried the Barking Frog out of luck on a Saturday night. We had visitors and were looking for a nice dinner location. Luckily we managed to get an available table at the Barking Frog. The restaurant is really cosy with the chimney at the center of the room, you can see the quiet kitchen in action or look at the cellar. You feel like being in a luxurious mountain cabin. The service was attentive and discreet. First time we experience in the Seattle regions proper service with experimented staff, with product knowledge and nice manners without being over the top! The food was nice , well cooked. The scallops were cooked to the perfection. Savory dishes, well presented and tasty, as described in the menu. The wine suggestion was really make to accommodate the taste of each dish. The cheese selection was enjoyable with some locally selected cheese. The frog legs were similar to what you could experience in France. We will definitely be back! Thank you for such a nice dinner.”
“Visited Barking Frog for my husband birthday, and the setting was absolutely beautiful. The restaurant has a quiet, old-school charm, and there’s even a lovely lavender garden right next to it. The atmosphere definitely lived up to the expectations. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t quite at the same level. We started with the Foie Gras Torchon (3/5). The foie gras itself was a bit too salty and the quality wasn’t as good as I expected. The homemade strawberry jam, however, was fantastic—perfectly balanced between sweet and tart. I honestly wished I could buy a jar to take home. The Onsen Egg Ravioli (5/5) was the highlight of the meal. A large sheet of fresh handmade pasta filled with a silky onsen egg, paired with pesto and what tasted like mustard seeds, created a surprisingly delicious combination. For the main courses, the Pacific Halibut (1/5) was extremely disappointing. It easily ranks among the worst halibut dishes I’ve had. The fish was clearly overcooked, dry, and had a noticeable fishy flavor. This single dish almost brought the overall experience down by an entire star. The Braised Rabbit (4/5) was much better. The shredded rabbit wrapped in crispy seared bacon was flavorful, and although the bacon was on the salty side, the carrot purée balanced everything nicely. My only complaint is that the rabbit was shredded so finely that it almost lost its own character. We also asked our server to recommend wine pairings based on our dishes. The selections were pleasant and worked well with the meal, though nothing particularly memorable. Overall, Barking Frog offers a wonderful atmosphere and excellent service, making it a lovely place for a special occasion. I just hope the kitchen can deliver food that’s more consistent with such a beautiful setting.”
