Leisurely cafe by day, Bastia transforms to a Mediterranean restaurant by night and draws culinary inspiration from the sun-drenched islands of Corsica and Sardinia
“Great hidden gem in Fishtown✨ Everything was fantastic to the apps, the ambiance, and even our server! 🍝 Food: We loved all the apps, and honestly for us we’d just get all apps if we could. The winter special monkfish was ok. And it was cool to try a new pasta “shape” for us: storzapretti e.g. look like meatballs, but are herby delicious ricotta balls with a snap. We loved the orata fish dish. WOW, perfectly cooked fish! For about $100 pp, we essentially got an XL 8-course tasting menu which is pretty worth it! what we got: ⭐️ scallop focaccia toast 5/5 WOW! impressed, the flavor, the texture. more than just a fish-on-toast ⭐️ shaved artichoke 5/5 acidic goodness ⭐️ skate cheeks 4/5 great texture! flavor combo was amazing with the calabrian chili and polenta ⭐️ grilled orata 4/5 perfectly cooked with the buttery meat and crispy skin, tapenade was fire! - tagliolini monkfish 3/5 not a fan gritty pieces in the pasta, monkfish felt a bit overcooked and tough - storzapretti ricotta dumplings 3/5 glad to try something new!! not our thing 🍴 service: amazing! our server was attentive, helpful and sassy — we liked her. overall staff was great too, they brought the dishes and explained them and between courses they took plates and cleaned the table. very pleasurable :) 🕯️ atmosphere: the ambiance was intimate and sexy! there was not a bad angle of the interior — it was a classy date night spot”
“I’ve very relieved to say my opinion has changed about Bastia! I recently visited this restaurant on Valentine’s Day and left an appropriate but sour review of this restaurant. After expressing my disappointment and concerns here on Google I was quickly emailed by the GM, Kim. She let me know how much herself and her staff valued my review and were very apologetic. I was encouraged to come back and give it another shot. Kim let me know how much they would value the opportunity to redeem themselves and provide my partner and I with the proper Bastia experience free of charge. I could tell how much they cared, and I accepted this kind invitation back. Last night was the reservation on March 1st. We were treated as VIP guests the minute we walked in the door. I could tell all staff was on notice, the host, our server, food runners… Everyone was very attentive and telling us how glad they were that we decided to give them another chance. I appreciated that very much! We were greeted with a presentation of the history of Bastia, what regions inspire the cuisine, menu recommendations, details about specials, and right away we were asked about potential food allergies and our personal preferences. To say the least, the service IMMEDIATELY stood out and was a vast improvement from our previous visit. Our food came out promptly, hot, beautifully plated and tasted exquisite. We were gifted an additional appetizer from the chef during our first course and an extra scoop of gelati with our desert! The food was exceptional, our interactions with staff were pleasant, and we felt more than welcomed at Bastia! I’m happy to say they out did themselves and changed my mind entirely. Night and day, truly. Little did Bastia know they were catering to a surprise celebration for my girlfriend and I, as earlier in the day we found out we’re pregnant! Aside from the great food and great staff, Bastia will forever hold a special place in my heart for being the place my partner and I shared a decadent meal together the first night finding out we are going to have a baby. They again comped our entire ticket but I still left a substantial tip for our server who did an incredible job! Thank you Bastia, I will be back!!”
“This place is fantastic. Two miles from our crib to Mediterranean brunch and drinks with a great bartender and chill atmosphere. We did the Sunday brunch, tried the Hotel Cala cocktail, along with a spicy margarita, had the omelette and the Corsican breakfast, followed that with a chocolate ganache. All of it wonderful. Came back for the burger and the fennel salad with swordfish medallions. Amazing. We’re hooked on Bastia. Obv. So glad to find this place so close to home.”
“Cute restaurant by the pool with a charming atmosphere and great food. We went there for brunch and enjoyed it a lot. The omelette was especially delicious. And they have a nice list of nonalcoholic cocktails. The service was excellent I have to say and made our afternoon very enjoyable. I’d definitely come back to try more of their food and soak up the sun.”
“Visited with reservation on a Friday night. Reservations via OpenTable. We were quickly greeted and seated and the team was very courteous. The manager also greeted us at our table to let us know she was available during our dining experience. We ordered the pictured dishes as well as their non alcoholic mocktail options which were very refreshing takes on standard cocktails like an Aperol spritz. The portion sizes were perfect for sharing and trying several different dishes. The flavors were robust and my favorite dish were the swordfish brochettes. Enjoyed the citrus fruit at the end of dinner which was a very sweet nightcap. Tables in the interior dining area are a little close together and it is very dim which made it a little challenging to read the menu. $$ There is valet and very limited street parking (the rest isn't is in a residential area)”
