“This restaurant has quickly become one of my favorites. As someone who has a lot of food allergies it is hard for me to find restaurants who accommodate me comfortably but this place has done such an amazing job of making me feel comfortable every step of the way. Our server Kandice went out of her way to ensure every dish that hit our table was allergen safe and it was so appreciated! Every dish was amazing and do not even get me started on the cocktails because oh my gosh were they good! I will be returning soon!”
“I’ll get to those bone marrow tacos in a moment… First off, my wife chose Comedor to celebrate my recent birthday. Can I mention my wife is brilliant and beautiful? The space is quite stunning. A discreet side door opens into a sophisticated mix of industrial grit with spacious open-air minimalism. That sounds cold and forbidding, but it’s quite the opposite. We started with carefully crafted cocktails. The Isla Privada (vodka, aperol, passionfruit, pineapple, lemon, and bitters) and the Comedor Margarita (blanco tequila, citrus-blend, cointreau) were perfectly balanced and refreshing. We tried two crudo dishes: the Aguachile (kanpachi, chile costeño rojo & citrus broth, apple, cucumber, charred allium) and the Spicy Tuna Crudo (yellowfin tuna, coconut-culichi salsa, fried shallots, habanero). Both were unique and delicious. Next were the bone marrow tacos. I haven’t had bone marrow in a while but always enjoy it when I see it on a menu. This preparation was something I’ve never experienced. The marrow is roasted with smoked butter and served on top of sautéed quelites (wild greens). The contrast of the savory marrow with the slightly bitter greens was the perfect balance. What makes them very inventive is the pecan gremolata. This added an unexpected crunch that worked perfectly. They are served alongside delicious homemade corn tortillas. The only thing I would add is that the greens did get stuck in my teeth, but we were happy to see toothpicks in the restrooms! It’s pretty clear why these tacos are one of the signature dishes. We finished with the Dean & Peeler NY Strip steak served with chilhuacle negro butter and herbs. It was cooked a perfect medium-rare and was melt-in-your-mouth perfect. Our server was Bryan, and he was outstanding. He was polite, engaging, and attentive. His thoughtful suggestions were spot on and his pacing of dishes was flawless. An added surprise was a birthday card signed by all of the staff, delivered with two glasses of prosecco. I suppose it’s a good sign that days later we are still talking about our experience.”
“Comedor continues to be one of our favorite dining experiences in Austin. The food is incredible—thoughtful, creative, and full of flavor without ever feeling overcomplicated. Every dish feels intentional, highlighting great ingredients and letting them shine naturally. What really stood out on our visit was the hospitality from the bar team. They was welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about making our experience special. From their cocktail recommendations to the overall service, everything felt effortless and authentic. You can tell there's a strong culture of hospitality here, and it really elevate an already amazing meal. Great food is easy to find in Austin. Great food paired with service that makes you want to come back is much harder to find. Comedor delivers both every time.”
“This place is a diamond in the rough! Delicious, can’t wait to be back, can’t recommend enough. This is a must stop kind of place. We got everything on the happy hour menu and everything was outstanding. Our favorites were the grouper tacos and the crab tostadas. Fresh, tangy, crunchy, hot and ready. The happy hour prices are excellent bang for the buck with an excellent variety. The red smoky salsa and the mushroom quesadilla paired perfectly. The carajillo gave me a little kick that I needed to get through the night. My wife loved the ice cream with cacao nib dessert. My wife is celiac and we had no issues with anything we ate. Will be back!”
“Comedor lives up to its reputation as one of Austin's trendiest dining destinations. The space is stunning—an industrial warehouse aesthetic, dramatic natural light, and a sleek, modern vibe that makes the whole experience feel special. The menu is designed for sharing, with small plates that feel more like modern Mexican tapas than a traditional meal. Portions are on the smaller side, but ordering a variety of dishes makes for a fun experience. It's been a few weeks since our visit, so I can't remember every flavor in detail, but one dish stood out to everyone at the table: the crispy potatoes. They were unexpectedly the star of the meal—perfectly crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and incredibly flavorful. We liked them so much that we ended up ordering a second bowl.”
