Dinner began in the late 90s with Heston Blumenthal’s fascination with historic gastronomy. The savoury ice creams of the late 1800s, the theatre of the Tudor dining experiences and the dishes of Alice’s adventures in Wonderland all resonated with his unique approach to cooking. Dedicated to the modern day discovery and evolution of dining he realised that the excitement and obsession with food is no new modern day phenomena. Together with the team Heston created a menu that takes those discoveries and fascinations of history into a new and evolving modern dining experience. Researching 14th century cookbooks such as those by the royal chefs of King Richard II to Lewis Carroll’s flights of fancy. Working with food historians, tapping into the world of Museums, the British library and the team at King Henry VIII's Hampton Court Palace - from this, the very modern dining experience of Dinner by Heston Blumenthal was born.
“Such a memorable and unique dinner! I wondered if the dishes would feel gimmicky, especially the meat fruit, but it didn’t at all. The history was so balanced and made the meal more special. I was looking for a fine dining experience that I couldn’t get in New York and this was it!”
“An exceptional dining experience from start to finish. We chose the eight-course tasting menu, and every dish was beautifully presented, imaginative and full of flavour. The way Dinner by Heston Blumenthal brings historic British recipes to life with modern techniques is genuinely fascinating. The quality of the ingredients was outstanding, the pacing of the menu was perfect, and each course felt distinctive and memorable. The service was equally impressive and super professional, knowledgeable and attentive without ever being intrusive. The team explained the story and inspiration behind each dish, which made the experience even more special. The elegant setting, wonderful atmosphere and remarkable view into the kitchen completed an unforgettable evening. A truly world-class restaurant and absolutely deserving of five stars.”
“A very memorable and most excellent lunch was served. I had a wonderful birthday celebration. We had the tasting menu she it was the perfect amount. The meat fruit was fantastical and whimsical, absolutely a winner and my favorite item on the menu. . The chicken coronation morsel was superbly melded with flavors. Everything was very good and I will certainly be back for more!”
“Dining at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal was an extraordinary culinary journey — not just a meal, but a beautifully crafted narrative that brings historical British gastronomy into a modern, refined context. Each course from the five-course tasting menu felt deeply considered, both in concept and execution. The dishes were not only technically precise, but also intellectually engaging, reflecting the restaurant’s philosophy of reinterpreting historic recipes with creativity and finesse. What stood out most was the remarkable balance between innovation and comfort — flavours that felt both surprising and familiar, layered with intention and presented with elegance. Every element on the plate had purpose, and every course flowed seamlessly into the next. The entire experience was elevated further by the exceptional wine pairings, which complemented each dish with precision and enhanced the overall harmony of the menu. A truly special mention must go to Amy, whose service was nothing short of outstanding. Her warmth, attentiveness, and natural elegance transformed the evening into something truly memorable. Her ability to create a relaxed yet refined atmosphere added an extra dimension to the experience — one that deserves, quite honestly, an additional Michelin star on its own. This is a restaurant that doesn’t just serve food — it tells a story, and does so with remarkable confidence and sophistication. An unforgettable experience.”
“Protein portion is very small, out of 7 dishes, 3 dishes are deserts, I think that’s just too much sweet for a 2 stars Michelin tasting menu. Also between the first and second deserts, I have been waiting for about 30 minutes. It’s outrageous. So I end up skip my last desert dish. And that is the first time I skip my Michelin dish. There is room for improvement on the service side. I personally is not a fan for the meat fruit as I had meat pie before which was more versatile than the meat fruit. Frog and porridge is also mediocre in my opinion as the fried frog leg is so tiny you can not even feel its existence. The only dish that is good is the duck main dish. But overall I don’t think the food and service together are not worth the price you are paying compared to other 2 stars Michelin restaurants at London. You can other better choices.”
