“Overall, Happy Camper delivered an outstanding dining experience. The restaurant had a fun, energetic atmosphere with great music, creative décor, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Service was exceptional—our server was welcoming, attentive, and even reminded us before happy hour ended so we could take advantage of the specials. The table was clean and thoughtfully designed, including hooks underneath for bags. The food exceeded expectations. The hummus stood out with warm pita, fresh vegetables, and flavorful za’atar seasoning. The tacos were excellent, the salad was very good, and the smash burgers were the highlight, featuring soft, warm buns, perfectly melted cheese, and well-balanced toppings. We ended up canceling the pizza because the portions were generous and we were already full. Food arrived in two waves, with most dishes coming out together, which worked well for our meal. The drink selection was also a positive, especially having Happy Dad Hard Seltzer available. The grape flavor was great, and the lemonade variety is a favorite, though a wider selection of flavors would make the experience even better. Final impression: Great atmosphere, excellent service, delicious food, fair happy hour pricing, and an overall experience that left us full, happy, and eager to return. I would absolutely recommend Happy Camper to friends and plan to visit again.”
“Came into town and visited this happy camper in wrigleyville and our service was so amazing I had to give our server her props! I believe her name was Grace and she was very attentive and helpful picking the best meal for our family! Thank you Grace, thank you happy camper for having such amazing staff. The food aswell was bomb and our time in Chicago was made better by this experience. Definitely going to recommend!”
“Went with a party of 16 on a Saturday night. Reservation worked perfectly, great open-air atmosphere on the second floor, plenty of seating, solid service time and follow-up, everyone’s food was excellent. Giant pretzel and cheese were good. Pizza options are dynamic and have a good variety of dietary options. Side of ranch is a $1 charge - only complaint.”
“My friend and I caught a Cubs evening game and celebrated their win with pizza. We found this spot through Google and loved it. The atmosphere had a cool camping vibe with colorful lights. I had the large Hawaiian Pizza, which was amazing, and the staff were super friendly. Our server claimed it's better than Lou Malnati's, and I agree. Highly recommend checking it out.”
“My friends and I stopped by Happy Camper in Lakeview on a Monday night for one last drink after being out. The location is great and easy to get to, which is one of the reasons we decided to stop in. The atmosphere was fun, and the restaurant was very quiet that evening. Since it wasn't busy, we expected quick service and were looking forward to relaxing for a bit. Unfortunately, that's where our experience fell short. We were seated right away, but then waited about 15 to 20 minutes without ever being greeted by a server. Multiple servers and bussers walked past our table several times, yet no one acknowledged us or even let us know someone would be with us shortly. It honestly felt like our table had been forgotten. Because we were never able to place an order, I can't comment on the food or drinks. We ended up leaving before anyone came to our table. The wait time itself wasn't the issue. We were seated immediately. The problem was waiting 15 to 20 minutes after being seated without receiving any service, especially at a nearly empty restaurant. As for value, it's hard to judge since we never had the opportunity to order anything. However, spending nearly 20 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge us made the experience feel like a waste of time. It's unfortunate because the atmosphere and location were great, but the lack of service completely overshadowed the rest of the experience. I hope this was just an off night, but based on this visit, I can't recommend it.”
