Rugby Grille Restaurant

“My wife and I went to the Rugby Grille during Birmingham restaurant week. We had the salmon special and it was cooked perfectly. The restaurant has an extensive drink list with prices that are definitely on the high side. Service was impeccable as you would expect at a premium price restaurant.”

“I come here about once or twice a year for a celebration dinner or lunch. The food is amazing and the service is out of this world. The drinks are fairly priced for the area as well. One of my favorites is the $55 burger. It's ridiculous but if you want to go all out for a special occasion then it's perfect.”

“Really 4.3 Stars. My boyfriend and I went here for Valentines Day. I am glad we went. I was hesitant to come here because of the pictures. The pictures do not do the restaurant justice. It’s much more attractive in person. The inside is very nice. The service is exceptional. I’ve been to five star restaurants that fall short of the service this restaurant provided. There were staff members everywhere working. Our waiter was very kind and respectful. He was prompt, swift, attentive and very patient. My cocktail was exceptional and the steak was also pretty good as well. My latte was also decent. I did appreciate that we had no issues with our reservation and that they called us promptly when I dropped my bracelet. I have a couple minor requests for the future. We both ordered our steaks medium but they came mostly medium rare with some parts rare. It was juicy and tasty but my boyfriend did skip eating some of it for that reason. They did ask us if everything was alright and we said it was. We didn’t ask them to put it back on because it’s never the same when they recook it. Even though I wish it was less pink, the steak was tasty and flavorful and the plate presentation was wonderful as well. The cut of steak it’s self also seemed to be of high quality. To be fair the meal was very good but it had the capability of being a five star meal. The dessert we had was very good and it was different which I appreciated because desserts these days seem to be flat and bland or over done. I personally also would have chosen different music to fit the theme but that could be a personal preference. All in all it was a beautiful night and we will definitely be coming back again. We are hoping to stay at the hotel next time. :)”

“This place used to be great, but as my uncle says, “used to bees don’t make honey.” I stopped in for dinner tonight and unfortunately left disappointed. The steak was very tough and undercooked. It didn’t seem like a bad cut of meat as much as a poorly butchered one. The salad had some brown spots in the lettuce, and the Oysters Rockefeller arrived lukewarm. To be fair, I haven’t had dinner here in many years. Breakfast and lunch have always been solid in my experience, but the dinner options felt limited and, based on tonight, below the standard I remembered. Hoping this was an off night, because this used to be one of my go-to spots.”

“Friends & I came for lunch like we typically do. Food took a hour- manager came over and said because they were looking for ginger… & then when we got the bill she said she couldn’t adjust the bill because we ordered something not on menu… which was a Caesar salad adding salmon. Our server was great and accommodating however the manager was not a great problem solver and should have better etiquette with regular guests. The experience was not up to par like it typically is. I hope next time is much better.”
