Saddleback Cellars was founded in 1978 by acclaimed winemaker, Nils Venge. Known as the "King of Cab", Nils is the very first American winemaker to achieve a 100-point score on his 1985 vintage of Reserve Cabernet, by acclaimed wine critic Robert Parker. Nils' Cabernets still command 90+ point reviews. Saddleback is now much the same as it was when Nils founded it; sitting off the Oakville Crossroad on quiet Money Road, a dead-end lane in the lauded Oakville District of the Napa Valley AVA. While our first love is Cabernet, which is produced from our 14-acre estate's fruit, we also produce unique varietals from select vineyards throughout Wine Country. During a visit, you’ll taste through our small-lot, handcrafted wines, including Charbono, Vermentino, Tannat, Petit Verdot and one of a kind blends. Our welcoming winery family will ensure that you arrive as a guest, and leave as a friend.
“Our favorite winery tasting we did during our Napa trip. Craig is so knowledgeable and created such a friendly and fun atmosphere. Super generous pours and delicious wine. We left with two bottles! We’ll definitely be back!”
“We loved our tasting at Saddleback! Angie gave us such a personal experience and we learned so much about the vineyard, the history, and about the wines themselves. The wines were incredible and we thoroughly enjoyed our time!”
“This is the best hidden gem in the Napa Valley! They provide a comfortable and fun environment that is all about the wine. We LOVE Angie and how she makes you feel like family the moment you are given your first taste! Oh, and the wine is amazing to top it all off! The wines are not overpriced, but are of the same or higher quality than higher priced wineries. Go! You’ll be glad you did!”
“Great little winery! We did a tasting here for my son's 21st birthday. It's not fancy like some of the Napa wineries, but we got to sit right in the vineyard and the guide was fantastic, very personable and full of great stories and info. Plus the wine was awesome! My fave was the Triple T.”
“Wish I could do zero. The man who led the tasting behaved as if we were an inconvenience. I know zero about wine and had questions. The man said to me “no more questions for you. You need to think before you speak “. I felt embarrassed and sad. I was with a group of 8 people and we were all pretty horrified. Good wines. Horrible customer service.”
