Sarah's Vineyard is one of Silicon Valley's favorite wine tasting destinations. Located west of Gilroy in the historic, rural Hecker Pass district, S.V. is just minutes from San Jose. The Sarah's Vineyard estate is a labor of love for proprietor / winegrower Tim Slater. The property occupies 24 acres in the cool climate "Mt. Madonna " district of the southern Santa Cruz Mountains range. Here in historic Hecker Pass, chilling winds and fog off nearby Monterey Bay mitigate the sunny daytime temperatures and extend hang time. Perfect conditions for growing world class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and the classic Rhone varietals thrive here as well.
“The wine was great, especially the Pinot Noir on there reserve tasting. The property is beautiful and they had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. But what really turned the visit into a great time for us was Melissa and the rest of the staff. What a wonderful environment to relax and drink some wine”

Aaron, the manager, went above and beyond—he was so informative, patient, and genuinely passionate about wine. He didn’t just pour for us; he taught us so much and made the whole experience engaging and fun. Thanks to him, I left with not only a new appreciation for the vineyard but also a real interest in wine itself. By far the best customer service I’ve ever had at a winery. I can’t recommend this place enough!”
“I recently went to visit my friend in Cali and we happened upon Sarah’s vineyard. Boy were we lucky! What a beautiful vineyard with great tasting wine and snacks. We were there on a Monday and had the vineyard to ourselves. Perfect opportunity for girl talk and catching up! The weather was also gorgeous, we stayed for several hours! The staff were super friendly and checked in often- even offering to take our pics! I highly recommend this vineyard if you’re in the area.”
“My husband made a reservation here and we split a wine tasting and a glass of sparkling brut. It was a beautiful day and we were able to sit outside. Service was impeccable and the views were delightful. Definitely would go back!”
“What a great place to sit out in the beautiful light of late summer and enjoy some great wine. We had the sparkling Rosè, which is just perfect for a warm evening. We also had live music and Mom’s Molè (EXCELLENT). I a, going to watch for their new food truck. They have also added a lot of new seating - no lawn chairs required. That’s very pleasant. They also have bocce/boules courts, which were a lot of fun. Some day I may look up the actual rules! All in all it was an amazingly relaxing evening. I just wish I had a video of it to watch during the winter months. The people there are super-nice. So glad we now live closer to Sarah’s!”
