“If you enjoy your Cabernets with a side of architectural grandeur, Silver Oak Alexander Valley delivers a suitably grand space to match its reputation. The property is surrounded by beautiful vistas, and the staff is both friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable, managing to keep things approachable despite the high-end setting. We opted for the Alexander Valley Cabernet Vertical Tasting, and to be perfectly honest, it felt a bit like trying to pick a favorite twin. Every single wine was good, but sussing out the nuanced differences between the years required some serious concentration; that said, the 2016 and 2018 vintages ultimately walked away as our personal favorites. The real highlight of the flight, though, was the side-by-side comparison of the Alexander Valley 2019 and the Napa Valley 2019. It was fascinating to see how completely differently the exact same year presented itself based purely on geography. Pro tip before you wrap up: make your way into the library. If you pull out your phone camera and look at the bottle foils, there's a very cool visual effect that isn't visible to the naked eye. It’s a fun little Easter egg in an otherwise highly polished, classic wine-country experience.”
