Sterling Vineyards is well known for many things, one being our incredible Gondola. Our Gondola carries visitors up the hill to our winery which stands on a hilltop 300 feet above the town of Calistoga. Sterling's architecture was modeled after the Greek island of Mykonos, where Sterling founder Peter Newton once lived. The brilliant white stucco stands out dramatically against the rugged Mayacamas and Vaca Mountain ranges that flank each side of Napa Valley. In one of our winery's towers, there are Eight bells from London’s Church of St. Dunstans-in-the-East, originally founded in the 10th century. The original church was destroyed by a fire in 1666, rebuilt, then destroyed again during the bombing of WWII. Walkways, balconies, and digital screens allow guests to take a self-guided tour of Sterling Vineyards’ winemaking facilities, while enjoying unparalleled views on the South View Terrace.
“One of our favorite wineries to visit in napa. The only one with a gondola. Enjoy a a quick ride to the top for amazing views. They also have one of the best wine memberships around. We always enjoy coming to take a wine walk here. The terrace tour is exceptional.”
“For a combination of views and wine, this cannot be beat! Did the St. Helena passport tour. Would definitely upgrade if you want the better quality wines. Friendly folks along the way to guide you on your wine journey. Add in a gondola ride for a nice edition to the experience. Loved the space and just being able to sit down and enjoy a glass of wine with wonderful views!”
“This is a MUST VISIT vineyard. We were running a bit late due to a crash on the way to the vineyard and they were very understanding and helpful. The staff here was awesome, especially Cathy and Molly! Would definitely recommend asking for Molly as your server. Overall place is very clean. We are not even wine drinkers but the wine here tasted greatttttt! We even bought some to take home.”
“Visited here for wine tasting. We started with a Gandola ride to the to which was cool. Unlike other wineries, they 5 different stations, you walk from one to another and also tour the winery. Last but one pour is at the terrace, the final pour is at gift shop on the way out. They have a display of wine from different years and also associated history which was interesting. Overall we had a great time.”
“We truly enjoyed this winery experience. The wine selections were excellent, and we loved the tour and terrace option we chose. It included a self-guided tour with three tastings along the way, followed by reserved seating on a beautiful terrace overlooking the vineyards. The terrace experience included an additional three tastings along with a thoughtfully paired cheese plate, which made it even more enjoyable. As a lovely bonus, we also received a complimentary wine glass and cutting board. Overall, it was a relaxing, well-curated experience and one we would absolutely recommend.”
