Join us on Mondays & Thursdays when we open large format bottles from our library for service. It’s a rare opportunity to experience these rarities by the glass, while supplies last. Stony Hill sits on steep terraces on the eastern side of the Mayacamas Mountains in the Spring Mountain District AVA of the Napa Valley. Located between the towns of St. Helena and Calistoga, our 163 acres of vineyards and forestry are entirely encompassed by Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. Stony Hill's story began in 1943 and we have continued to produce wines of quality on Spring Mountain since. With prior reservation, guests are welcomed to The Residence Thursday through Monday. For same-day appointments, please call 707.963.2636 to inquire about availability prior to joining us at the Estate. If there is someone in your party who will not be tasting, such as a designated driver, please book for your full party size and use the discount code “DD” to discount their tasting fee to $0. *Please Note: Persons under the age of 21, pets, and outside food are not permitted.
“Everything about this vineyard is incredible-the drive up, the view, the land, the house, and the wonderful and attentive staff. We could have sat out there all day-it was so, so beautiful and peaceful. We visited 8 vineyards during our stay in Napa, and the chardonnay at Stony Hill was the absolute best (every vineyard we went to started us with a chardonnay). There was never any pressure to buy anything (but we did!). There's touristy Napa, and then there's here. If you truly want to immerse yourself in Napa, you must put this place on your list. Bonus: saw wild turkeys and a black bear on our drive down the mountain!”
“The best California white wine experience! Expensive, delightful, knowledgeable staff, secluded and amazing views. It’s very easy to indulge at this mid century modern home turned tasting room atop the vintage hills of this old vineyard.”
“Our Stony Hill wine tasting was incredible. The view was absolutely breathtaking and the wine was heavenly. Their entire staff was also amiable and welcoming. We were greeted with a glass of white wine when we pulled up, and seated at a table for ourselves, completely private. The red they served us was memorable and I bought a bottle of dessert wine it was so delicious. Stony Hill’s wine tasting is a must if you’re visiting Napa!”
“First piece of advice - check the address twice before venturing up the wrong side of the mountain to get here. Second piece of advice, try to get your tasting inside the amazingly restored home | tasting room - it wrecks of Mad Men vibes and has the Instagram-ability to go along with it. We tried the Residence Experience tasting and enjoyed it. The staff wasn't as attentive as other smaller vineyard we had visited but they were super nice and accommodating. The views from the mountain are great - and even on a hot day, being seated outside isn't a killer with the refreshing afternoon breeze that comes thru hills of the mountain.”
“First and foremost please don't get me wrong with my review below. We liked the place up the hill and the atmosphere was great (though a bit spoiled by the noises and half-burnt trees around, but there is nothing that can be done about that). The wines were good and the manager that was with us was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. However, maybe because I was used to something different, our experience was a bit weird. Usually, at least with other tasting places, the wine is served, briefly explained and then they leave you alone to enjoy the wine while having a seat in your table and talking with your partner/s. In this case though, the manager was all the time with us and it was a bit awkward sometimes because we felt observed and basically our reactions were a bit unnatural. I liked the personalized tasting but I do prefer a more intimate one where you can be on your own enjoying the wines and the views. We also were hoping to have a seat outside and enjoy the views, which were one of the best I have seen in a winery, but we were seated indoors instead, despite no one was around. The room we were in was good and we liked it but we would have preferred outdoor. All things said, we also liked the visit to the estate facilities and the family history and we did enjoy the conversation with the manager and the option to choose some of the wines to taste. Overall, this place is good, but honestly, for the price ($75/person) I was expecting something more unique, especial and unforgettable, which unfortunately it was not. Still I would recommended winery if you are looking for a more personalized and out-of-the-ordinary experience in a secluded setting.”
