Where the short-grass prairie drops into the Red River Valley, the 4R Ranch—with its magnificent vistas and rocky terrain—is perfectly suited for growing grapes. Patriarch W.C. Roper encouraged his family of sixth-generation Texans to share the beauty of this extraordinary place with others; and so it was love of this man and love of the land that inspired 4R Ranch Vineyards & Winery. Chinquapin oaks, white-tailed deer, the endangered black-capped vireo, and the occasional Rio Grande turkey inhabit this incredible property. Powered by sun, earth and wind, 4R Ranch Vineyards & Winery calls us all to slow our pace, enjoy the view, and sip a glass of wine in the magnificent Red River Valley. Our staff will guide you through our extensive wine list and help you find the wine that best suits your palate. Our wines may be purchased by the glass or the bottle. Guests can sit and enjoy the best view in North Texas while listening to live music played by great artists most Saturdays.
“We stayed at the 4R Ranch for 2 nights/3 days and very much enjoyed it. We are likely not representative of my campers there, since we were in a 34-foot Class A RV. I was clear about our size and the host was very helpful, telling us they had one spot that was "ok" for our RV. He provided details on the 30-amp electrical, and the fact that there was a water spigot available... but no sewage connection. We were okay with all that. Upon arriving in the area, the last several miles of roads were dirt, but the roads were actually quite good, overall. There were a couple of tight turns, and one steep downhill just before we arrived, but nothing that was worrisome. The location of RV Site #2 was quite good, being very close to the entrance, not too challenging to get into place, but you definitely needed to stay within the "driveway" or the RV would lean way too much to use the stabilizing pads. We have long leads for our power and water, so that wasn't an issue. From the perspective of beauty, it was a great spot with nice forest all around, a nice view of some hills, and the closest neighbors couldn't be seen or heard, so, quite a nice spot. We didn't use the shower hut (about a city-block distance away), but I did visit it to see what it looked like, and the water (pull a chain) was cold at first but warmed up after a minute, so it would have been ok to use, despite being very rustic. The only element during our stay was, no WiFi, even though it says there is WiFi. And our cell reception was poor (1-bar) and slow, but worked most of the time. Generally, I give the management 5-stars, the location 5-stars, the location and access (for a 34-foot RV!) at 4-stars, and the lack of WiFi was the only negative that's worthy of mention.”
“Old world romance just over the river from Oklahoma. Driving up from Muenster, the flat grass land and wind farms open up to a surprise lush green valley that holds a surprise vineyard estate. We visited the tasting room in the spring and enjoyed the outdoor patio with a light breeze which was the perfect atmosphere for wine tasting. The dry red flight was delightful at every taste. We thought we could easily be in Italy, not Texas. The staff was all friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We came on an adventure excursion on the way up from DFW, but we're looking for an excuse to come back.”
“We have been wine club members from the beginning - we KNOW 4R! But this past weekend we had the delightful opportunity to stay in their guesthouse and discovered the hidden gem of their beautiful property, the Bramble Path! It's a mountain biking trail, but easily traversed by foot and so worth it! It is a hike! My step counter said 11 miles, but the path does offer several opportunities for shorter adventures. And at the end of the trail there's wine! What's not to love about that?! Also, their guesthouse is cozy, well appointed, and the perfect hub for a weekend getaway! Their wine is so good, the staff attentive, and their winter menu is delish!”
“The food is delicious, the view is beautiful and the wine is fantastic. The vibe of the whole place is so laid back and friendly. The staff is so kind and they do a really great job . If you have the chance to do a wine and cheese pairing with Nicole- do it!!! She’s so much fun and just gives you a really great experience. 10/10 recommend!!!”
“It was our first time to this winery, and it was great! The road is rough, but the signs were very visible and helpful! We made a reservation, sat outside, and the views are amazing! We had the mix flight, couple glasses of wine and the pretzel bites! All excellent! Service was very attentive! Will be back!”
