“Inconspicuously located inside Common Theory. Your party is escorted in, checked your ID and instructed to find the secret symbol to open the door into the bar. The brief walk through the dimply lit hallway was decorated with hanging flowers. The bar was quaint and intimate. Vibe was relaxed. There was however, a stringent 2 hour limit on a table so get your orders in sooner than later. Our waiter was sociable and helpful. We ordered chile garlic tamago, mushroom fried rice and charred gai lan. Everything was delicious and well seasoned. For drinks I had, the Jade Empress and Purple Petunias. Both cocktails were not the most potent, but they were pretty and tasty. Paid approximately $115 (with tip) and I’ll definitely be back more.”

“Atmosphere: 9/10 Inside Common Theory Pub with a speakeasy-style entrance. Asian-inspired, soft-lit, mellow setting. Strong backbar design. Plenty of seating at the bar and tables. Music volume is good and allows easy conversation. The Chinese medicine backbone is clear and cohesive, with the entrance saying “Not getting old, but having long life.” Drinks: 7.5/10 Recommendation: Hattori Hanzo Digital-only menu with good photos and descriptions. Large drink selection, but the absence of baijiu is a major conceptual miss for a Chinese-medicine-themed bar—like an Irish pub without Guinness. Some drinks genuinely lean into Chinese medicine flavors; however, overall ingredient balance could be tighter. Coasters are provided. Glassware is average. Garnish and presentation are good, with some creative touches. Service: 8/10 Water served on arrival. Friendly, professional, attentive team. Reservations are recommended. Prices are above average.”

“We had a really great time here for a birthday celebration! All of the drinks were delicious and the mushroom rice and the oko fries were both on point! I tried everyone’s cocktails but my favorite were the two I got which were very sweet and kind of floral. I had the Purple Petunias and the Jade Empress. Makhala’s Blessing was a close third also quite sweet. The chile garlic tamago was super good and tasted like a unique take on deviled eggs. The decor is stunning as well and the servers know their drink recommendations. I also loved the thai cheesecake, it was absolutely delicious. They put a candle in it for my birthday!”

“Absolutely lovely aesthetic, and probably one of the best speakeasies we've been to in San Diego! Lovely vibe and drinks too. We were a group of 3 and still got a large comfortable table. Drinks were perfect! So creative and everything was presented really well. Friend and Husband got the Mandarin and Jack & Coke and enjoyed. I wanted something non-alcoholic and fruity, so the bartender actually made me a custom drink with pineapple, ginger and mint something. It was better than the other drinks on the table, haha. A bit pricy, but totally recommend!”

“Realm of the 52 Remedies is such a fun speakeasy. The hidden entrance and cool vibe make it feel like a little escape, and their creative cocktails totally hooked us—my wife loved them so much she officially crowned this her favorite speakeasy. Her drink was the standout of the night, super flavorful and really unique. The bartenders were awesome too—friendly, skilled, and clearly passionate about what they do. The food was also surprisingly delicious, and we loved it so much that we actually came back a few more times just to bring friends and show them the spot. Overall, an awesome place to hang out and one we keep wanting to return to!”
