The hotel itself is beautiful, but it was Madyson's outstanding customer service, personal attention, and genuine care that elevated the entire experience. “This stay was truly such a pleasant surprise for my husband and me. We were attending an event in San Diego and originally booked the hotel simply because of its convenient proximity to our venue — but it ended up becoming one of the highlights of the trip. As Lifetime Globalists with Hyatt, we’ve stayed at many Hyatt properties over the years, and this hotel genuinely stood out in how warmly they recognized our status and how well we were treated throughout our stay. The service felt welcoming, attentive, and sincere. The room itself had eclectic, fun decor with the artsy, modern vibe that Andaz properties are known for. The rooftop bar was a wonderful spot to unwind with cocktails while enjoying the downtown skyline views. We also loved that Thursdays feature their “Champagne Thursday” experience, which added an extra celebratory touch to the stay. The pool area was lovely, and while the gym was on the smaller side, it was very clean and thoughtfully equipped. One thing future guests should be aware of: overnight valet parking is quite expensive, so be sure to factor that into the overall cost of your stay. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations, and we would absolutely return.”

“Overall we’ll come back to San Diego, but we won’t be staying at this hotel. Might come back for the rooftop bar. Don’t get me wrong. This is a beautiful property in downtown with a gorgeous rooftop bar and pool, and we enjoyed our room. The beef we had was that while the front desk and customer service staff is very friendly, half of them were incompetent or unhelpful and the other half was left picking up loose ends from their colleagues. We made a few simple requests on the first day for our stay that each staffer we talked to acknowledged and shared they’d make it happen. With each follow up, there was a “I don’t see that on here” or “I’m so sorry, but that request wasn’t put in.” Very grateful I had a gut instinct to check back with the front desk the day before we checked out to see if they put our late checkout request on our room. The 1st, 2nd, nor 3rd staff member had done it. Only took getting quality care from Madyson and Jeremy to finally ensure the requests were submitted and our needs were met. Hoping they can figure out their poor customer service, and we might consider coming back.”

“Tldr: won’t recommend to anyone. We booked this hotel mainly because of the Amex credit, but unfortunately it turned out to be one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we’ve had. First, the shower drain smelled so bad that it was honestly hard to breathe in the bathroom. It made the room feel unclean from the moment we arrived. Second, there is no complimentary parking. I understand parking is limited and expensive downtown, so I’m not blaming the hotel for that specifically, but once you factor in the extra parking cost, the stay absolutely does not feel worth the price. The rooftop breakfast was the worst part. We waited nearly an hour for our food while watching other guests who arrived later get served and finish eating. Our order didn’t come out until we finally asked the server about it. What made it more frustrating was that we were seated directly in front of the service area the entire time, with staff constantly walking past us without checking in once. Overall, between the smell, extra costs, and poor service, I would strongly recommend staying elsewhere.”

“The good: it’s a decent enough location and the people working here are pretty awesome. Hotel is nice looking, and the bed was very comfortable. The bad: Rooms have an incredibly musty smell, the rooftop bar noise bleeds into the bedrooms, and the hot water took a minimum of 10 minutes to get warm (in a suite nonetheless). Also kinda sucks that the view from the suite was… across from another room. So either live in a fishbowl, or live in a cave with the poor lighting in rooms. The worst part is that ownership cheated out on room fridges for “drink coolers” that are exactly the same size Breakfast is nice looking if you’re into that, but overall I found it pretty heavy. If you’re a globalist, the charges are waived, I couldn’t for the life of me imagine paying $50-60 for a breakfast for 1. The elevator had sticky stuff all over the floor for the better part of the days. Absolutely nothing about this hotel says “Andaz” other than the price point.”
