Black Ruby: Thai Craft Burger and Dining

“Our 3rd time here and always perfect! 👌 We love Black Ruby. So far we’ve tried the Massaman Burger, fried calamari, the chicken sandwich, and a couple of the pasta dishes—honestly, everything is so good. You can always taste those amazing Thai flavors—a little spicy, a little peanuty, and totally delicious. It’s a super lovely spot with great service and excellent vibes. Easily one of our favorites in Cambridge!”

“I've been hyping this place up for a month and it didn’t disappoint! The calamari was fork tender, melted in my mouth, and the crispy coating was seasoned perfectly; one of the best calamari I’ve had in a while. Also was really surprised by how much I liked the tom yum shrimp pasta!! The sweet and sour of the tom yum really marries well with the creaminess of the sauce and I really liked how unique the taste was. Shrimp was decent-sized and flavorful. The massaman burger was good! I did like the curry and it was fun dipping my burger in it. Larb fries were also really good; the sauce was rly good; very distinct taste! Overall I really enjoyed the experience! Wonderful flavors packaged in a fun, unique way! Also the thai tea float was a biig bonus I’m a sucker for ice cream hahaha”

“Friday nights in Cambridge have a great energy, and Black Ruby fully leans into it. The restaurant was buzzing when we arrived, but we were seated right away at the last available table. The space felt both lively and cozy, perfect for a date night. Service started a bit slow, but once it picked up, the pacing was excellent. Our server was more hands off, which worked well, letting us settle in and enjoy the night without feeling rushed. We started with the Larb Pork Dumplings, which were beautifully presented with chili lime mayo, fresh herbs, and crispy greens. They were fried perfectly, packed with bright Thai flavors, and the added crunch from the greens made the dish even better. With five dumplings, it was a great portion to share. For dinner, we ordered the Crispy Basil Burger and the Thai Garlic Burger, both cooked medium and full of flavor, with Thai seasoning adding a unique twist to the beef.”

“I went to Black Ruby with my partner to celebrate their birthday and was SO happy we went. The atmosphere was lively. The staff was friendly and accommodating. And the food was utterly unique. I ended up getting the Thai PB&J and it was so much better than I expected. The peanut sauce melded with all of the fresh vegetables toppings, and the blackberry jam brought a lovely sweetness, all coming together on a great bun to make a sweet and savory delight. Another notable bite was the Pad Thai Spring Roles (I like peanuts okay). They were genuinely the best spring rolls I have had, but do note that the portion is smaller than expected, even still the price was worth it given the flavor. We had a couple cocktails, one of which being the Yuzu Drop, which I was expecting somewhat of a lemony flavor, but was surprised but a delicious mandarin forward taste. For dessert we split a bowl of Mango Sticky Rice, and I had no idea you could improve on such a classic staple, both the presentation, texture, and flavor were delightful! Though the most notable part of the sticky rice was the plating. I mean what a inviting piece of tableware! All in all I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a unique burger in a nicer than a burger restaurant setting. We were startled by how affordable the dishes were given the care and finess that went into them. Thanks y'all!”

“They serve phenomenal Thai-Western fusion dishes! I’d say this was one of the best restaurants I went to during my trip to Boston. I also appreciate how accommodating they are for people with dietary restrictions. We ordered 2 of their burgers and they came out pretty quick. I liked the uniqueness in how they turned a Thai dish into a burger without taking away the authenticity. The seasoning and sauce was just the right amount that it didn’t overpower the chicken and rest of the burger. Staff was responsive and friendly.”
