“Fabulous food. Some excellent taste combinations. The little pallete cleanser, scallop dish and quail were delicious. I did think the background music was a little too loud. I won't forget the meal. It's always good to serve some bread with the main.”
“This was such a lovely meal at a lovely restaurant. All of the dishes were interesting, nicely balanced and a good portion size. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere was really relaxed. You can see how they’ve had a Michelin star for years!”
“Title: A Truly Unforgettable Experience – Bulrush UK is World-Class As an American visiting from Cincinnati, Ohio, I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Bulrush UK in Bristol with my girlfriend, who’s a local. We were both experiencing it for the first time and opted for the full tasting menu with wine pairings—and it turned out to be the best meal of my life. From the very first bites, we were drawn in. Each dish was thoughtful, creative, and beautifully presented. The early bites were a perfect introduction, packed with flavor and originality. Two standouts for us were the Wagyu beef, which my girlfriend especially loved, and the Ratafia Champagne, which absolutely blew me away. Just to clarify—it wasn’t paired with the Wagyu, but was served earlier in the menu, and it left a strong impression. I’d never had Ratafia before, and now I’ll be chasing that flavor forever. This was also my first time experiencing Ozark-inspired cuisine, and it was eye-opening. The flavors were deeply rooted yet completely fresh. A particularly memorable moment was the cheese ice cream—unexpected, a bit playful, and absolutely delicious. It captured the spirit of the whole experience: bold, inventive, and expertly executed. The service was exceptional—warm, passionate, and deeply knowledgeable without a hint of pretension. You could feel the care and creativity behind every dish and pairing. Bulrush is now my number one restaurant—not just in the UK, but anywhere I’ve eaten. If you’re anywhere near Bristol, do not miss this culinary experience. This review was written a year after I ate there and it is the only place I have ever felt so compelled to write a review. Thank you to all the staff for such a memorable night . I hope to one day return to Bristol and see what new cuisine you have to offer”
“Nice place, bit not sure worth the fuss. Food is delicious and has some amazing and unusual flavour combinations, hovever comparin what we were served to the tables around it seemend that on few occasions they didn't pay equal attention to the dishes (i.e lack of specific items) - consistency could be improved. Staff is nice and welcoming also accomodating some requests. They did sometimes forget the food details. Also we felt rushed out by being told we need to vacate the table in 15 minutes while still having coffee & dessert. All on all an interestinv experience but will not come back”
“This was my first Michelin restaurant experience, but unfortunately the food did not really suit my taste. I can definitely see that they use unique and very high quality ingredients, but the contrasting flavors and changing spice levels just were not for me. The venue itself was quite small and ordinary. The atmosphere felt very basic and we had to sit at tiny tables. It might be worth trying once just for the experience, but in terms of value for money it just did not work for me. The absolute highlight of the meal was the dessert. If I were rating the dessert alone I would give it a very high score, but the overall experience was simply not my style.”
