Nestled in the picturesque village of Hovingham amongst the rolling Howardian hills of North Yorkshire, Mýse, a MICHELIN starred restaurant with rooms and British tasting menu experience from Chef Joshua Overington, celebrates the ancient North Yorkshire terroir surrounding the restaurant, drawing on the area’s rich history with Joshua’s elegant spin on traditional Yorkshire cooking. Our ingredients are grown, farmed, fished and foraged in the British Isles, championing small-scale producers, growers and farmers who share our ethos and respect for sustainability and regenerative farming.
Mýse offers six rooms for guests to stay, blending historic charm with classic elegance and comfort, with three rooms located above the restaurant and a further three rooms in a traditional stone cottage just a few moments across the village green. After savouring the tasting menu, guests are invited to wind-up the evening with a nightcap around our fire pit before a peaceful nights’ sleep just a few steps away. Breakfast is a lavish affair, served in a continental style presentation with freshly brewed English-grown teas, coffees and local juices to accompany.

What diners say
“I had an unfortunate mishap when my car tire went flat right outside the restaurant, but the outstanding service here completely turned my day around. Two wonderful members of the staff went above and beyond to support me in every way they could. I am immensely grateful for their kindness and the overall helpfulness of the entire team. Exceptional service and highly recommended!”

“Absolutely fabulous, stands comparison with any fine dining experience elsewhere. Great food, paired with fine wines (if you wish). Attentive and knowledgeable staff. If I had any gripe I'd ask for the background music to be little quieter in the restaurant so that the description of the food/wines was easier to discern”

“This is special. Terrific lovely service from front of house. Brilliant wine pairing. And course after mind boggling course that shouldn't work but does. No wonder this place went from opening to one star in seven months....”

“Great for dinner. Don’t waste your money on staying in the rooms. We had dinner and stayed in the Oak room. Dinner was very tasty and the wine was lovely. Staff were very friendly and attentive.
The Oak room in the attic was stuffy and all of the guests were complaining about the fact that the WiFi didn’t work.
Breakfast was awful. We were given no choice. Toast and a single soft boiled egg each. Oats and some pâté. Lots of weird little stuff that was too rich for first thing in the morning. All I wanted was a good quality sausage, or bacon, or smoked salmon. I went and got breakfast at Helmsley. Go to Mannion. Save your money and get a taxi home.”
