“Chalk Hill Review – Highly Recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an absolutely wonderful visit to Chalk Hill and it exceeded all our expectations. The grounds are stunning, the wines are fantastic across the board (the chardonnays and cabernets were standouts), and the whole atmosphere feels relaxed and welcoming. What really made our experience unforgettable though was Luke Taylor, our wine tasting host. Luke was outstanding – knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about the wines and the story behind Chalk Hill. He took the time to explain everything in a way that was interesting without being overwhelming, shared some great insights into the winemaking process, and had a fantastic sense of humor that kept the whole tasting fun and lively. You can tell he truly loves what he does, and it made our visit feel personal and special rather than just another tasting. If you’re visiting Chalk Hill, make sure you get Luke as your host if you can – he’s a gem! We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend this winery for anyone who loves great wine and even better hospitality. Thank you, Luke and the whole team! 🍷”
“first wine tasting and couldn't imagine a better place ! Gemma and Marcus were the perfect hosts. Insanely friendly, knowledgeable about their wine and even had recs. Marcus in particular, he sold me on the Cabernet Sauvignon. I love a dark, rich wine and without even asking he presented us with it. My friends and I will definitely be back soon !!”
“We recently joined the Chalk Hill club after falling in love with their Moscato (during lunch at the Star of Greece....but that's another post). Today we visited for a more leisurely tasting, before the Easter weekend rush. We were lucky to have Oli as our host, who guided us through a beautiful selection of wines with deep knowledge and clear passion for his role. Beautiful location and stunning hilltop views round the region....all of which keep bringing us back. We keep promising to try the Never Never gin bar and cocktails....but hey, that gives us an excuse to come back again....and again. Thank you Oli and congratulations on your wine exams.”
“We had such a wonderful experience at the winery thanks to Oli. He guided us through the tasting with so much passion and knowledge, explaining each wine in a way that was both engaging and easy to understand. You can really tell he knows his wine inside out. Oli was incredibly warm and welcoming, making the whole tasting feel relaxed and enjoyable rather than rushed. His recommendations were spot on, and we learned so much about the different varieties and styles. Highly recommend asking for Oli if you visit — he truly made our wine tasting experience memorable! 🍷”
“What a a vibe! Came here on a Sunday afternoon after having the feed ma at Coriole which was spectacular. Rolled in here completely full but quickly decided that we deserved a nice gin spritz out on the lawn. Families playing with their kids glass of wine in hand, gen z’s posing for 25 identical photos of themselves, designer dogs running about and solo Guitarist playing hits - just wonderful. The terrace is a huge lawn that slopes gently down spilling over to a gorgeous view of Mt Lofty Ranges to the east and the low coastal hills along the coastline to the west. Just stunning. I’m sure it’s more chill on a weekday and that fine but the vibe today was just a perfect end to our McLaren Vale day. Didn’t eat here but the pizza or flatbreads that I saw people noshing on looked first rate. There’s also a dessert place onsite and we did grab a cheesecake to go that I’m looking fwd to tonite as we cheer on Novak v Alcaraz on tonite’s Australian Open final! Enjoy!!”
