Don’t mind the peacocks as you make your way up to Mattie’s. The beautifully restored Victorian home on the Green Pastures grounds is a historical treasure trove with a stylish finish. The main entrance is off of Live Oak Street and Bouldin Avenue.
“My husband and I just had brunch at Mattie’s for our anniversary and we had an absolute blast! Our server Michael was beyond incredible and personable! Getting to enjoy great food while watching the peacocks stroll around was so sweet to watch. 10/10 place for brunch!”
“This place is fantastic. Secret beautiful and delicious southern gem. The food was exquisite, friend chicken and pork 💯 Fried green tomatoes.. it’s gonna ruined all the other fried tomatoes, because of how good those are. Lime dessert was delicious. We didn’t have drinks but they look great. And the place has such a unique vibe. I felt like traveling in time but also being able to disconnect and simply enjoy because of how good the environment is. Inside the driveway they only accept valet parking, but you can park on the street and walk half of a block until you get to the entrance. Just in case I was not clear, or you saw the long text and you said: not reading that, highly recommend 🌟”
“Excellent high-end restaurant. We celebrated a birthday there. The starters (grilled octopus and cheese plate) and entrees (duck and salmon) were uniformly excellent. Too bad they ran out of the daily special (lamb), which sounded really interesting. The chocolate cake with a Happy Birthday tag was a welcome dessert. The hummingbird cake was also delicious.”
“Mattie’s is one of the most beautiful dining spots in Austin. The setting alone is unmatched peacocks roaming, lush greenery, and that charming historic house feel. The food is just as impressive, with Southern-inspired dishes that are rich, comforting, and thoughtfully done. Service was warm and polished, making it perfect for a special occasion or a romantic dinner. Such a dreamy experience. 10\10”
“What a wonderful place with an ambience inside and out that's a real eye catcher.. Especially at night. The food was savory.... The duck was outstanding as was the prime ribeye the baked potato...... and the Arnold Palmer was the best I've ever had... The lemonade had a sweet tangy taste.”
