The Urban Oyster

“I initially had a reservation for 730 but traffic made it impossible to get there so I called. Serie (probably spelled wrong) pushed my reservation back for me so we could still come. When we got there, I was greeted by Erica, who told us our table wasn’t ready but we could wait at the bar. Long story short, they didn’t want us to wait any longer, so we were seated at the Chefs Table. Talk about an experience. The drinks were amazing (you must try their uncle nearest old fashioned), for starters we had the chargrilled oysters and the snapper nuggets. Absolutely amazing!!! For mains we had the seafood pizza and the mushroom pasta (I added shrimp)x everything was a chefs kiss!!!! And being able to watch them prepare the food was such a bonus. Chef Jasmine and her crew were back there putting in some work! Mr Tony was very nice, the bartenders were really nice as well. The overall vibe has to be experienced. The place was busy, but no one seemed frazzled or annoyed - everyone loved their jobs and made sure you had a great experience. Can’t wait to come back!”

“This place was on my list for a long time and I’m so happy I got to check it out. I came to Baltimore for a quick overnight trip and stopped in for happy hour. There were plenty of options to choose from on the menu and the bartender helped me make some selections. The oysters were fantastic and the presentation was wonderful. I can tell the staff enjoy working there and care about making sure that the customers have a positive experience. I’ll definitely be back for dinner so I can try more items!”

“Had a wonderful time at the Urban Oyster during a Baltimore weekend with my mom!! A friend sent us to the area for Ekiben but they are closed on Sunday so we went walking around. When I spotted The Urban Oyster I remembered another friend raving about it so we decided to eat there. When we arrived no reservation they offered us the bar which Im always a fan of but my mom wanted a seat and some lovely ladies gave us their reservation and dined at the bar which was so kind. We had so many delicious bites from the menu and everything was so good and fresh!! The oysters were fresh, delicious and slighty briny and sweet. The fish bites were perfectly fried. The beat salad was such a great combo, even with the praline which was a sweet surprise. And the space is soooo beautiful!! I will definitely be making a return trip to Baltimore to dine again! It was the perfect meal after our morning witnessing Amy Sherald's beautiful work at the BMA.”

“Baltimore quietly has some gems, and The Urban Oyster is absolutely one of them. I stopped in for Friday Happy Hour and the experience was exceptional from the moment I walked in. As someone who appreciates well-executed hospitality, I immediately noticed the level of service. Every staff member I encountered was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming; the kind of customer experience that makes you want to linger and come back again. I was also excited to learn that the restaurant is Black-owned, which made supporting the space even more meaningful. Although I only sampled the Happy Hour menu, the quality was impressive. The raw oysters were incredibly fresh, the shrimp cocktail was perfectly prepared, and the deviled eggs were a standout. The charbroiled oysters, however, were the real star... rich, flavorful, and beautifully done. The cocktails were well crafted, the atmosphere was vibrant without being overwhelming, and the overall experience felt polished yet approachable. This is the kind of place that easily transitions from a relaxed Happy Hour to a full evening out. I’m already looking forward to returning for dinner and exploring more of the menu. A true standout in Baltimore’s dining scene.”

“Visited on a Saturday afternoon with reservation. Easy to make a reservation via Resy. We were immediately greeted and seated immediately upon being checked in. We were there close to opening and the restaurant quickly filled with patrons. The interior is beautiful and bright with tables and bar seating. The restaurant tables are cozy but it definitely makes for a warm communal ambiance. The team was attentive and our server Katie gave great recommendations for starters, drinks, and entrees. I had the branzino entree with broccolini as well shared deviled eggs and ceviche. The starters were really good - classic deviled with an oyster fritter on top and creamy filling and the ceviche and seasoned chips were light and tangy. The entree plates are a hefty portion - the branzino was a whole fish filet in two pieces and was well presented. The white bean puree with the fish was very creamy and delicious although I have like a bit more flavoring on the branzino itself - the salsa verde it came with was very chunky and couldn’t be poured over the fish entree easily. The drinks were delicious even the spirit free options. I would definitely visit again and focus on the drinks and some of the other favorite starters that the team recommended.
