“The best gastro pub in Boston, best restaurant in West Roxbury. Just so good. Very good food from the burger to the risotto to the salads, delicious cocktails (El Diablo!), topped with excellent service. Love this place. It’s small with just a few tables, make a reservation a week in advance — it doesn’t disappoint. Outdoor seating when it’s warm is lovely too.”
“Really enjoyed the food here. Didn't have dinner but the meatballs were phenomenal. Some unique Thai flavors I definitely wasn't expecting. Would definitely come back! Place is kind of small and quite popular so it fills up fast. We got the last 2 bar seats and there were people waiting within 10-15 so make a reservation if you come at dinner time!”
“We sat outside, it felt like home, a backyard at home. No complaints at all about wind, dust, mosquitoes or flies. The place is clean and we got very good service. They don't have a big menu but it has a fair variety and diversity We had a great time.”
“This is the third time I've been in a about as many months. It's always the same, slightly inebriated bartender. When we get there, regardless of time, usually around 1030/11pm we're told they're closing and last call will be in 30. Their hours say until 1am. Every time the bartenders friends come in 3-6 depending on the night. The bartender doesn't pay attention to anyone else. I've finished my drink and pushed it in front of me, he just looks at it and keeps hanging out with his friends. Tonight was the icing. Got there at 1110. We're told last call is in 30. His friends roll in and sit at the opposite end of the bar. No one else exists. Another 6-8 people come in ordering a bottle of wine, Manhattans, other on the rocks drinks. Nothing crazy or complicated. One of their group had been standing at the car for bit and finally tried to get the bartenders attention. Bartender snaps and starts yelling at the kid about etiquette. Swearing and berating him in front of and loud enough for everyone to hear. The kid apologized and the bartender kept going. Threw the C word out several times. Obviously, the whole group finishes and is ready to head out, don't blame them, and the bartender starts up again. Just going off about it. This is a good 10-15 minutes later. They leave and one of his friends, a girl, says something to the effect of medical workers thinking they're important.... Apparently it's a group who comes in regularly from the nearby hospital. My coworker and I, who are also "medical workers" unbeknownst to her, heard all of this. Guess West on Centre is our go to now until there's a bartender that can be sober behind the bar and deal with things in a civilized manner.”
“Bottom line: If you are looking for a nice meal, go elsewhere! There are many other places nearby with better service and food. West on Centre across the street is an outstanding choice. If you just want a beer or mixed drinks, maybe Porter Cafe is for you. Overall rating: 2 stars (being generous) Food: 0 stars Service: 2/3 stars Ambiance: 2 stars”
