“Came here last night for dinner and got seated at the bar. That turned out to be an amazing experience thanks to the bartender, who provided great service and friendly conversation. The food was fantastic! The best seafood I’ve had in my life. I got the seared rare tuna and my husband got the swordfish. It was our first time trying swordfish and we were not disappointed. Highly recommend this place!”

“Tried Hank's Seafood Restaurant while visiting Charleston with family and it definitely lived up to the hype. The appetizers were amazing, the main dishes were just as good, and everything tasted fresh and well made. I personally got the butter poached lobster tails & lump crab cake and it was honestly amazing. Service was great the whole night and the atmosphere had that perfect Charleston vibe. Easily one of the must-try spots in the city if you’re visiting.”

The Standout Dishes The kitchen at Hank’s has a way of elevating Southern classics without losing that "comfort food" soul. Here is what we enjoyed: Softshell Crab: I ordered the softshell crab, and it was prepared to perfection. It’s a delicate dish that’s easy to overcomplicate, but Hank's nailed the texture—light, crispy, and incredibly fresh. Easily some of the best I've had in the Lowcountry. Shrimp and Grits: My wife went with the classic Shrimp and Grits. It was rich, savory, and exactly what you want from this iconic dish. The balance of the creamy grits with the seasoned shrimp was delicious. The Atmosphere & Service There is a distinct "old-school" charm to Hank’s that makes it feel special without being stuffy. The high ceilings and wood-heavy decor give it a classic fish-house vibe, but the service is polished and attentive. Final Verdict Whether you are a local or just visiting the Holy City, Hank’s is a must-visit. Between the consistent quality and the historic ambiance, it’s a gold standard for seafood. “We visited this restaurant today, and everything was truly above our expectations! The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The atmosphere was just fantastic — warm, inviting, and perfect for a special occasion. It made my birthday feel even more magical. Service was 10 out of 10. Our server, Jeremy, was incredibly attentive and thoughtful. He was always one step ahead of our requests, making sure we had everything we needed before we even asked. His professionalism and kindness really stood out. We loved the food, the atmosphere, and the overall experience so much that we would definitely love to come back one day. “We made a reservation to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We arrived early and headed to the bar for a drink. Our service with Mariah was so good we by passed our table and stayed at the bar for our dinner. The food we delicious and the service by Mariah was superb! We visited on a busy time on Saturday evening, so the restaurant was hopping and busy. 12 out of 10 for the service, food and experience. We stopped by to share our experience with the manager on our way out as well!”
