Welcome to Lonesome Rose where we celebrate and explore the melding of Northern Mexico and Southern Texas, with accessible, approachable menus and cocktails, which focus on the flavors these regions share.
“Lovely, bright afternoon lunch experience. Busy yet not overwhelmingly loud. The sunshine’s in the skylight roof, offering a bit of the outdoors in. Truck stop nachos were tasty and perfect to split.”
“Great food for a decent price. Decent portions too! Very tasty tacos; brilliant vegan truck stop nachos and a great watermelon salad. The vegan garbanzo bowl was delicious too. The ice cream taco and the churro bites were brilliant choice ; so was the creamed corn . The waiting time for food was long however. Cameron who served us was polite and very helpful. Toilets were clean. We could not get a Friday evening sit in; so we had to go for lunch time. Book online as it is busy during weekends This place is very close to and walking distance from California station on the blue line metro”
“Got the nachos for a quick bite to eat, really good maybe a bit too much queso for my liking but some may like that”
“Lonesome Rose has been one of our go-to spots in Andersonville for years. Probably $800+ spent here at this point. There’s genuinely a lot to like: the queso is consistently great, the spicy margaritas hold up, and it’s been an easy neighborhood staple. Our last visit was frustrating enough that we’re done. The food had some issues: queso came out without the chorizo we ordered, and when it came back the pinto beans had disappeared. Fine, things happen. But the bill didn’t match the menu, and that’s harder to brush off: ∙ Queso + chorizo listed at $11 + $3; charged $15.50 ∙ Tinga tacos listed at $6; charged $7 ∙ Carne asada listed at $8; charged $9 About $5.50 in overcharges before tax and tip compound on top of it. Honestly, none of this individually would end it. But the tacos have always been pretty average, which means there’s not a lot of goodwill left to absorb sloppiness at these prices.”
“I get that it’s a Tex-Mex restaurant specifically for gays making over 100k, but serving a margarita completely full of ice, overflowing out of the glass, with one sip of mainly mixer for $16 is crazyyyyyyyy. Not worth it. Also whose happy hour is 3-5? No one’s even off work😭😭. Don’t waste your time or calories baby”
