“Wonderful buffet dinner before a show at the Meyerson. Beef tenderloin and salmon were both very good. The bread pudding with bourbon sauce for dessert was amazing! Service was outstanding.”
“What a great place to eat before the symphony! We went for “Uptown Nights” and it was incredible! We parked in the garage and was able to elevator up to the main level easily which is where opus was and the symphony is on the next level up from there. We got seated right away at opus. We had a reservation. We enjoyed a cold course, a main course and a desert course all self serve. We walked the hall for a bit and was then ushered to our seats. It’s a lovey venue. It was a bit challenging when we left because the opera had just let out as well so traffic was a bit thick but all in all it was a wonderful experience and we will absolutely be returning!”
“Excellent service, especially from jasmine! Very Elegant setting. Only downs: 1. A bit pricey for the level of food quality: vegetables and desserts were quite acceptable. 2. Fish was a bit warm--Not hot-- Slightly overcooked and second tier in quality. 3. Pretty major diarrhea the following morning. It may have come from this soup, which backed up on me during the meal, nearly forcing me into the lavatory between courses.”
“During brunch, Opus has a nice atmosphere with live music and a sunny interior. The food was delicious and service was good, but the price for the amount of food and selection was not ideal. There were 3 appetizers, one main course, an omelette station, and dessert for $40 per person. I appreciate Opus being inside of the Symphony Orchestra building so it was easy to hop over to see the performance. It was an experience but not worth the price when compared to other restaurants.”
“Our experience this evening at Opus was extremely disappointing. My husband and I had a 5:30 PM reservation and arrived around 5:20 PM. We stood near the entrance for approximately five minutes without any acknowledgment from staff. During that time, several employees appeared to be standing in the back talking, yet no one greeted us, checked us in, or acknowledged that we had arrived. After standing there for several minutes with no assistance, we sat at a nearby table because we were tired from standing and hoped someone would notice we had arrived. Shortly afterward, the manager, Jay Schulte, walked by and told us that we could not sit there because the table was reserved and that we could not simply sit anywhere. The waitress or hostess added, we open at 5:30 pm. Unfortunately, at no point prior to that interaction had anyone welcomed us, asked our name, or acknowledged that we had a reservation. What made the situation particularly disappointing was that the only interaction we received from management was being told we could not sit at the table, rather than being greeted or assisted after we had already been waiting to be acknowledged. A simple greeting such as Welcome, may I check you in? or Someone will be right with you would have made a significant difference. Basic hospitality and guest acknowledgment should be standard, especially in a restaurant located within a premier venue like the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. Because of this experience, we canceled our reservation and chose not to dine there. A very disappointing start to what should have been an enjoyable evening at the symphony. Hopefully management will address this so future guests attending performances at the Meyerson receive the level of hospitality expected at a venue of this caliber.”
