The Great Commoner is a New American restaurant in the West Dearborn neighborhood of Dearborn.
“This is my new favorite brunch spot in Dearborn. The Great Commoner feels like stepping into a boutique café somewhere in London — chic, cozy, elevated, and somehow still welcoming. The vibe is effortlessly stylish without feeling pretentious. The service has been consistently excellent every time I’ve gone: attentive, accurate, and naturally friendly instead of overly rehearsed. You can tell the staff genuinely cares about the experience. And the food? Amazing. Every dish looks beautiful enough for Instagram, but actually tastes as good as it looks — which isn’t always the case with trendy brunch spots. The coffee, pastries, and brunch menu all feel thoughtfully curated, and the atmosphere makes you want to stay longer than you planned. Perfect for brunch with friends, solo coffee dates, or even getting a little work done during the week. One of those places that makes Dearborn feel unexpectedly cosmopolitan.”
“Firstly, I loved the atmosphere / aesthetic and wanted to point that out since it was the first thing I noticed as my first time there. I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while and made a reservation online and was promptly seated when I arrived. The staff was amazing. Adam, was our server and he was amazing! I actually ended up getting everything he recommended which was the honey bee latte - it was so good and then women who brought it was very kind, he recommended the short rib hash and it was phenomenal, the flavor of the dish brought everything together beautifully. I am gluten free due to having celiac disease and had no issue with options nor cross contamination and he notified the kitchen of my allergy. Everything was clean, delicious, and prompt. I will definitely be back again!”
“I’m from Canada and in the few days I was here, I had amazing food at everywhere I went. Yet, a Sunday brunch at The Great Commoners topped it all for me! The atmosphere was calming with beautiful decoration and plant touches, and it was not too loud. I had mushroom omlette with feta cheese and sourdough bread (don’t order baguette - it was really hard to chew it, and they were so kind to replace it with another bread), and my friend had Mediterranean Frittata. They were both so delicious! I also had earl grey tea — I love tea with breakfast/brunch — and afterwards got vanilla bean latte (hot). It was soo good! I enjoyed every sip of it! Thank you so much for helping us enjoy our experience, Inaya! 🌷”
“Enjoyed a family holiday at this brunch/lunch spot. The place was crowded but efficient and the service was excellent. Diana was knowledgeable and gracious and ensured that we enjoyed our meal. Jimmy checked on us often and even initially kept us updated after we arrived on time for a reserved space that was still occupied. The pistachio cortado and shak shuka were homey and delicious. The arugula/beet salad was equally fresh and yummy. Worth the wait!”
“We arrive 8:30 ish in the morning. No one at the host booth so we wait 5 mins and awkwardly find a seat ourself. Feel like they understaff because we wait so long and there is one girl need to keep running back between the kitchen/bakery section to the host booth to sit people down. Food is good but again long wait in the early morning. I love their Hot Chai. The serving size is HUGE. Sourdough toast is super toasty and taste good.”
