St. Roch Fine Oysters & Bar is a Cajun restaurant in the Downtown neighborhood of Raleigh.
“Such a great experience from start to finish. The oysters during happy hour were incredibly fresh and honestly some of the best I’ve had in Raleigh. We also ordered the short rib and it literally melted in my mouth so flavorful and perfectly cooked! What really made the night though was our waitress. She was phenomenal, super knowledgeable about the menu, gave amazing recommendations, and made the whole experience even better. You can tell the staff really cares about the food and hospitality here! Can’t wait to come back!”
“We had an amazing dinner at St. Roch! I had so much fun that I, unfortunately, missed some food pics. Started with the hurricane, creole daisy, and anejo neat and oyster shooters. No notes - just great! We got a seafood platter and small bites to share : the tchoupitoulas, frog legs, crawfish hush puppies, pommes frites, and pork cracklings. We asked our waitress (who was awesome) to space it out however she saw fit. The crawfish hush puppies came first - piping hot, full of flavor, and with an airy, yummy butter. The seafood platter came next - 18 oysters, shrimp, and blue crab claws. The shucker was 10/10. It’s so frustrating to eat oysters that are still attached or have lots of shell. These were perfectly executed and came with a lot of the brine still on the half shell. The shrimp were plain but had a nice sauce to dip them in. The blue crab legs were so good!! Perfect bite, tons of flavor, and not overcooked. The frog legs were so good that we got two orders. They were a tad salty from the tom yum spice but the Vietnamese mayo cut it nicely. I think they should add it a bit more sauce on the bottom, but other than that, great! Pommes frites were so good - freshly cut, nice crunch, and delicious garlic aioli to dip. The pork crackings were good for the price and the side of pork belly had a good flavor. It wasn’t my favorite so I wouldn’t get again, but still worth trying. There was an intriguing desert special - skillet brownie with chili crisp, burnt honey, and ice cream. We had to try it! It was addicting!!! You wanted to hate it based on the flavor combo, but you couldn’t! As someone who doesn’t like things too sweet, it was perfect. We had a lovely night and can’t wait to return!”
“New Orleans fare you can't go wrong with. Oysters are fresh and the hush puppies creamy and hot. The service and atmosphere is what sets it apart, as there aren't that many options in Raleigh for a date night. Definitely order the German Chocolate Cake.”
“After referring to Eater for places to go for food, I just knew I had to stop by this place! I learned while waiting they had a official Michelin recommendation which is such a great feat! If you’re a peach lover, I highly recommend the Stonefruit Mule. Perfect to sip on while waiting for food or even to wrap up the evening. I can’t say I’m an expert on oysters by any means. This being said, these oysters were phenomenal. Each one I tried had a bit of a different flavor and tasted phenomenal. Side note: I even heard a few customers found pearls in their oysters which is something I’ve never seen at an oyster joint before. Last, but surely not least, the beignets. Their smell alone had me drooling and the taste had me wanting more. (Shout out to a local who recommended I try them!) Highly recommend stopping by for drinks, oysters, or an entire meal!”
“Made reservation at 5. They sat us at one of the window walkway tables which was fine until they sat a birthday party outside the window, facing us. The entire meal I felt on display as I was on a platform directly in front of them. The happy hour 6 oysters for $9 tasted great. We got 6 dozen! I don’t care for fried saltines but the mignonette was perfect. Our waiter was wonderful; she recommended a delicious cocktail, was very personable, and knowledgeable about the fare. The gumbo, I felt, was incredibly small for $14 and tasted more like a meat stew.”
