Farmers Grain is a Farm to Table restaurant in the Edmond neighborhood of Edmond.
“This is one of the best places I've ever had dinner. I highly, highly recommend this place. The menu was excellent. The food was locally sourced and was delicious. I'll be making this location a staple on my dining out calendar”
“The food and drinks were phenomenal! This was a first experience for my wife and I, but we plan to be back many more times in the future! Brian was attentive and took excellent care of us!”
“Beyond just a trendy flash in the pan place, this Edmond restaurant is filled with nuances that will stand the test of time. Our small group of well-traveled diners was interested in finding the type of restaurant that displayed all elements of a winning restaurant, i.e., great food, selection, atmosphere, accessibility, and superb service at fair prices, but at the same time not well known to our circle of friends in OKC. We found an excellent one in Farmers. Although not rustic, it bears the presence of a homestyle place with nice wooden tables. No tablecloths, which here works delightfully because this special place isn't at all pretentious. From the moment Roy answered the phone to take our reservations, we knew this was a welcoming place. Parking was easy, sort of down the street and across the tracks from Edmond's busier farmer's market area. Walkable. The menu is seasonal, meaning, you'll not be bombarded with a dizzying array of selections with some missing the mark as other restaurants too often do. Everything here was well sourced, thought out, prepared and presented. These were all fresh all star dishes. Joshua was our primary waitperson who helped guide us through the curated offerings. We knew in advance the beef was renowned, and never frozen (they'll explain how they manage to do this), so we chose their prime selections, including the NY Prime strip with risotto and crimini mushrooms with a whisp of white wine (the rice was a little undercooked, so the wine infusion was slight). Intrigued with the Supreme de Volaille Chimay chicken, no one was disappointed with the special poultry cut and house supreme sauce. But to open the table, we shared the Bread & Tallow appetizer with sprouted bread, perfectly grilled marked to bring out the rustic flavor and aroma. But the beef tallow stole the show. Kept at the perfect temperature to prevent either separation or excessive hardening (must have been in the wine cellar?), it will make you forget about ever buttering your bread. This tallow, rendered from Prime Strip Loin, was whipped to a breezy lightness. They do that well here; the asparagus soup appetizer had a light creaminess with a smooth consistency. If we had any suggestion, our table agreed that Farmers Grain Kitchen+Cellar could have ventured more into the bolder side in just about all of its seasoning decisions, particularly the asparagus soup and other sauces. Given their expertise, the chefs had nothing to loose by going a bit further to accent the expertly prepared natural flavors with some earthy aromatic spices...although to be fair & accurate, one at our table thought the brisket-minced stew was spot-on with the spice level. The bar selection was fine, with wonderfully paired Merlot and Cab choices. The mesquite smoked salted caramel old fashioned was prepared with the whimsical twist of adding a slice of candied bacon (!) to evoke the smoky aromatics. We asked whether the bar could whip up the concoction using a premium Uncle Nearest Whiskey 1884 Small Batch (named after the master distiller enslaved person who taught Jack Daniels everything about distilling). Unfortunately, they didn't, but we think that it would pair well with the house drink's smoothness and add another unique aspect to the restaurant's Americana narrative. It's a rare thing for us to pass on the dessert menu, but despite Joshua's tempting us to splurge on the well-received "banana foster," we opted to end the evening without it. Again thanks to Roy, we were fortunate to book a superb and spacious table off to the side, and great for conversation. Hard surfaces make the room a little "live," but we had no trouble hearing each other. Like its eponymous namesake, these Farmers get to rest a tad earlier than other OKC metro fine dining places, so we pretty much closed the place down after 9. If your looking for a special place for special friends and family, go here early...and often.”
“Simple! With every bite, I can taste the chef's passion for excellent food and chef's attention to details. This was my second visit! I can't wait for Spring menu. Icing on the cake was the staff mixing my favorite drink... Chai me to the moon! Even though it is off season.”
“We had such a fun experience here. Huge thanks to FG for accommodating all 11 of us! The staff was incredibly professional and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the evening. The chef even came out at the end to personally thank us and make sure everything was perfect. Our waiter (Joshua) went above and beyond. Joshua brought hangers for our coats and kindly took photos for us throughout the evening. Little thoughtful touches like these made the experience truly special. ✨ Food wise: The food was beautifully presented, and everything we tried was delicious. My favorites were the NY strip, steak tartare, French shepherd’s pie, Suprême de Volaille, Bacon & Cheese Agnolotti, and the Banana Foster. I loved that we were able to try a little bit of everything on the menu—it made the experience even more enjoyable. 🍽️✨”
