Restaurant Orsay is a French restaurant in the Avondale neighborhood of Jacksonville.
“For quite some time I had heard that Orsay was one of the best restaurants in the area so we decided to try it. As expected the dishes were very skillfully prepared and well presented. Starting off, the Foie Gras was exceptional and a very large portion, as was the Trois Foie Mousse. We initially had some confusion on our wine selection as we ordered a nice L'Hermitage red and after opening were poured a white. It eventually was corrected and we did receive the ordered bottle after they realized it was an inventory error. Our entrees of Pan Roasted Fish and Pan Roasted Duck Breast were both fantastic with delicious accompaniments- the French green lentils and crispy parsnips perfect with the duck. I was somewhat disappointed with the atmosphere, which I can only chalk up to a preconceived notion of elegance, that I didn't find. Overall, great cuisine, and an extraordinary wine from a lengthy wine list, made for a memorable dining experience.”
“Incredible dinner! Service was great and the food was absolutely amazing. We started with the Caesar salad and French onion soups, both were great. I got the Lobster Pot Pie and my fiancé got the Beef Stroganoff. Can’t go wrong with either!! For dessert we got the toffee pudding - highly recommend that.”
“This is the kind of restaurant I love. Quality cuisine, courteous service, and a private atmosphere. From the moment we arrived, they asked if the table they showed us to was okay—small details that make all the difference. When I made the reservation, I mentioned it was our anniversary, so the waiter took the opportunity to congratulate us and bring us complimentary glasses of sparkling wine. As for the food, I ordered oysters as an appetizer, which were absolutely amazing, truly outstanding. The main courses weren't anything special, but the dessert… a crème brûlée that was the best I've ever had in America, without a doubt. I could go back many times, but I don't want to, so that each visit is special, and when I do return, I hope the main course will impress me.”
“Great experience at Orsay, went there for a girls night dinner. Can’t remember the servers name but he was attentive and made sure our glasses were always filled. Absolutely delicious crème brûlée, lamb was amazingly cooked as well. Beautiful blush pink and full of flavor , I was a tad bit disappointed with the portion as it said rack of lamb but it was two pieces, nevertheless the flavor made up for the portion of it. Will definitely be back .”
“This restaurant is gorgeous. Inside and out. 🤪 The menu is a feast on the eyes itself. The mussels are plentiful humongous portions and everything my party and I ate, we enjoyed....we did experience and issue with getting our food in a timely manner. It took almost 45 minutes to get our entrees after our apps. By then your feel satiated and the enjoyment is lessened. I ordered the duck breast with lentils because I love duck and it came highly recommended without asking about it. It was the tiniest duck breast and it wasn't trimmed properly and came with too much fat that made for some uncomfortable chewing. I did order it medium rare but nonetheless had very little meat on there. The least I expected was free desert or some other gesture that acknlowdged the very long wait. Even the pan seared octopus was more like pan charred and the meat was dry. I'd visit again due to their expansive menu and maybe by then the kitchen puts out better service. I don't blame the waiter, he was great.”
