“We had the BEST lunch outside with our dog! They offer a PUP PUB MENU which is adorable! We ordered the chicken breast & they gave her a pup cup for dessert! Our food was delicious. The oysters were fantastic, the whole meal was awesome! The waitstaff were all great!!!”
“First time today me and my husband. Lunch date, the food was so good the oysters was the stand out so good and so fresh. The cesar salad was very good. The pizza flat bread was delicious. The service was amazing thank you Melody. We will be back again. 👍👍”
“Went out on a night where there was bad weather so we stayed locally. Food was outstanding. Ate at the bar. The bartender was very attentive and gave helpful recommendations. I had the Grinch drink and he added a candy cane mint rim. It was oooh sooo good.”
“Looked forward to prime ribs for which they are noted for. Went on Wed. Prime rib night. Meat cooked to perfection. Tried cutting it with a steak knife and difficult to cut. Took a piece and was greeted to a not so tender bite. Brought half home, used my steak knife and it worked much better, but rib a little tough. Cheesecake was good. Sort of disappointed. GET some new steak knives.”
“I genuinely want to like Lafayette House more than I do. It has a lot going for it: the location, the ambiance, and the staff, especially the bartenders, who are top notch. Unfortunately, for me, Lafayette House falls short in the area that matters most: the food. To be fair, my husband and I usually visit the Tavern area for a casual dinner, so we are not typically ordering the higher-priced menu items like the raw bar or prime rib. We are usually choosing more casual, moderately priced dishes like burgers, sandwiches, salads, and similar items. On our most recent visit, while seated at the bar, we were given a specials menu. Since it was two days after St. Patrick’s Day, the Irish-themed specials made sense. The entrée options included Chicken Murphy, corned beef, shepherd’s pie, and fish and chips, which is what I ordered. Before ordering, I specifically asked how the fish was prepared and was told, “We batter the cod, it is deep fried and served over fries.” I was trying to confirm whether the fish was actually prepared in house, and based on that description, along with the fact that it was being featured as a special, I assumed it was. When the dish arrived, I was honestly floored. It was three very small pieces of fish that looked like frozen, pre-made supplier fish, served in a small basket with equally underwhelming fries. I found myself wondering why this was offered as a special at all, especially since it is not even on their regular menu. It would have been better not to offer it than to serve something that felt so uninspired. On another visit, my husband had a similar experience with their “famous” crab cakes. In my opinion, this is a venue with a lot of potential that is being let down by its kitchen. Because of that, I cannot really recommend Lafayette House for much beyond being a nice place to stop for a drink.”
