“We’ve just finished another excellent meal at J Alexander’s in The Summit at Fritz Farm in Lexington. Summer, our server, and Lyra, the manager, took such good care of us while we were there. We were treated kindly and our service was very quick. We had the spinach cheese dip and chips for our appetizers. The majority of us had fillets and we feel that they’re are the best steaks in town. Thank you to Lyra and Summer for seating us in such a nice spot that we could have a relaxing family meal tonight and for visiting with us so often to check in to see what ride we needed. Thanks ladies! We have consistently great food and service each time we visit. I’m going to go eat my chocolate cake now to round out the night.”

“We frequently visit J. Alexander's and have a few items on a menu we order all the time. Their orzo salad is very nice and the carrot cake is rich and delicious. I liked there spicy shrimp appetizer this time as well. The specials has had a Black Grouper with couscous and lemon butter sauce. It was melting-in-your-mouth good. We tried a couple of mocktails and were not impressed, the bar though has had a non-alcoholic beer, so we switched to it. This place gets busy, so reservations are recommended around a weekend.”

“J. Alexander’s in Lexington, KY delivered an excellent dining experience from start to finish. The food was outstanding, with everything coming out perfectly prepared and full of flavor. You can tell there’s a strong focus on quality and consistency, which really shows in every dish. Whether you’re going for a casual meal or something a bit more elevated, this restaurant strikes a great balance between upscale and comfortable. The real standout, though, was the carrot cake—hands down the best I’ve ever had. It was incredibly moist, perfectly spiced, and topped with a rich cream cheese frosting that wasn’t overly sweet. Each bite was indulgent without being heavy, and it’s absolutely worth saving room for dessert just for this alone. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a great spot for a nice dinner out, whether with friends, family, or a date. Service was attentive and professional without feeling rushed, which added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. If you’re dining in Lexington and looking for a place that consistently delivers great food and memorable desserts, J. Alexander’s is a fantastic choice. I’ll definitely be back—especially for that carrot cake.”

“Went for father’s birthday and they had a birthday card ready for him. The entire meal was very fast and efficient and our server did a good job. Ordered the Alex’s salad without tomatoes and croutons and extra cilantro vinaigrette. The dressing is definitely the star of the salad. There isn’t a whole lot of bacon and that flavor doesn’t really come out much. Also got the prime rib medium rare with a loaded backed potato (they forgot to make it loaded but I just asked to bring the fixins on the side so I could add). The au jus of the prime rib was great but the prime rib could’ve had a much better cook on the outside and was one of those pieces where there was hidden gristle (which is to no fault of the chef). I’ve had the prime rib here before and it was fantastic but this time was very average. They also gave a birthday carrot cake that was good although wish there was ice cream on top of it instead of the icing which was bit too sweet for our liking”

“J. Alexander’s has been a family staple for years, which made this experience really disappointing. I placed a simple to-go order at 8:15 PM and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. It ended up taking 45 minutes. I had to go inside and wait at the bar, only to be told no one knew I had arrived. After being told “5 more minutes,” I waited another 15. At that point, I tried to cancel—because how does two sides of mac and cheese take 45 minutes? Instead of processing a refund, they handed me the order. I was told the mac and cheese was “fresh,” but it was clearly reheated—overly hot and burned on top. Not acceptable, especially for a $20 side. This was a breakdown in both service and food quality. Definitely not the experience I expect from here anymore.”
