“First time at this location and had a great experience. Dec 2025 The wait staff and manager were friendly and attentive. Great decor creating an inviting environment to dine and have a cozy experience too. P.S. the ladies room is nice! Tried a new dish, pork loin with Thai chili sauce. Some of the best mashed potatoes you’ll get. The bread was very fresh. The sweet tea (free refills) was solid; brewed well and not extremely sweet. The pork loin was cooked medium to perfection. Seasoned well and tender enough to cut with a plastic spoon. I will definitely get this dish again and again! The cheesesteak got good reviews too. 3/6/26 Second Visit. Tried the New England Clam Chowder and it needs to be reclassified because it tasted nothing like the traditional soup. Had Cajun spices, Andalusian sausage and barely tasted the clams. The consistency was great and flavor good despite strayed from clam chowder. The potatoes were undercooked. My friend from Cambridge, MA has highly offended with the dish and sent it back. Crabcakes were good size but overpriced to serve with French fries and slaw. Also would’ve preferred the sauce and garnish on the side. The pork loin was medium rare. Too much pink for my taste. I was already full so declined offer to cook more. Adjusted the doneness when reheated my leftovers. The mashed potatoes are always awesome. The chair sat too high, compared to the booths. It was crowded for lunch, server was still very attentive.”
“First time eating at J. Alexander’s in Raleigh,NC located very close to Crabtree Valley Mall. Our server, Denzel, was amazing! We never felt rushed; service was prompt and friendly! All food was prepared as ordered. Calamari was fresh and tasty! All steaks were VERY tasty! The complimentary carrot cake was AMAZING! Definitely will be returning!”
“J. Alexander’s never misses for a first visit, and our recent dinner was a perfect reminder of why this place deserves all the hype. Three of us came in and did it right with the Steak Maui, the shrimp, and a classic steak and fries. We split a Caesar salad to start and finished with the carrot cake, which was the right call on all fronts. The drinks were just as solid. An old fashioned, a French 75, and a full-bodied cab. Every single one landed. The cocktails had that “someone actually cares about what they’re making” quality that’s harder to find than it should be. But honestly, the star of the night was our server Chris. He was attentive, warm, and genuinely fun to be around. The kind of server who elevates the whole experience without being over the top about it. If you’re lucky enough to get him, you’re in good hands. Everything was incredible start to finish. The food, the drinks, the vibe. Already looking forward to coming back, and photos below speak for themselves.”
“I am a regular at J. Alexander, but what I ordered is not my typical…the Chicago Steak (ribeye) medium cook and Emmanuel did his BIG one on it. Perfect temperature and the fat was rendered perfect. And my service at the bar was AMAZING…Chris, Shaq, and Susan made my evening. Thanks always and a special shout out to the Hostess stand for welcoming with open arms!!! Never a disappointment when I come to J’s!!!😉”
“Drinks bomb. Food bomb. I was upset that they were out of the sushi that they offer. I really wanted to try it. I heard it was very good but I can't include in my review. I can't wait to return. Hopefully everything on the menu will be available for order”
