“This place is truly a gem. I was looking for a coffee shop where I could enjoy a latte, and sit down to get some work done on my laptop and treat myself to a little solo date. I searched Google and Ubuntu caught my eye. I came in around 7:00pm last night (Wednesday), and there was a live folk band playing which added a nice touch, and seeing that they had live music when I searched on Google, was one of the reasons it caught my eye as well. When I walked in, I was kindly greeted by the owner, Danielle, which is also my name so it felt very synchronistic that I ended up there. Initially I only ordered their Lavender Latte, which was absolutely amazing. And then I decided to put in an order of Goat Cheese Fritters, and Danielle suggested the Cheese Bread as well. Both dishes were absolutely AMAZING. The jam for the cheese bread was phenomenal and unlike any I'd ever had before. You can tell that the food is really made with such love and effort. The ambience was amazing as well, with dim lighting, and a quaint feel. The folk band was the perfect added touch. The wait staff was very polite and tentative, and checked on me regularly to see if I needed anything else. When I got up to leave, the owner Danielle looked over and briefly stopped her conversation with another group of what looked to be regular patrons/friends, to say goodbye and formally introduce herself. She even took the time to ask my name and we had a good laugh when we realized we had the same name. She was just so warm hearted and really made me feel welcomed. I will definitely be back to Ubuntu, and think I may even make it a regular spot for myself on weekdays where I have the time to stop by. I haven't had an experience this great at a dining establishment in a while. Thank you so much for your stellar service, delicious food, and amazing kindness. I can't wait to return.”
“I had not been back here for over 4-5yrs since they opened. It’s definitely a neighborhood’s cafe for sure. It’s in an apartment & shop complex even through it has it own separate area including parking. Plus it right next to the lagoon & park. They open all day except an hr break during weekly and 2hrs break during weekend after lunch services. The menu is quite nice unique and very tasty too. Yes the prices can be shocking and overwhelming but worth it with the quality of the foods and well cooked & good preparation/presentation. Service is great & friendly plus attentive, cause of that it could/might slow the lines (if you’re ordering from the cashier). The vibe here is great, open door and high ceiling with natural air and light make it more enjoyable and feel at ease. They do have indoor, back or side patio, front patio…pretty much any open area will be a seating area. Overall, great cafe place to hangout with friends and/or family or just solo and enjoys the moments.”
“Amazing breakfast! Wonderful spacious and cute ambiance! Best part is parking in front! The staff was kind, friendly, helpful and really showcased the passion and love for their restaurant. The staff checked in on us, they made our meals with love and it shows! I ordered the egg benny and my friend ordered the breakfast sandwich, plus we have the bread and the guava passion fruit jam was amazing! My favorite part was the hollandaise sauce that they used on eggs benny, it was almosted like a light whipped cream texture compared to the standard runny pudding texture. It was to die for and I highly recommend it!”
“Our favorite coffee spot. A calm, cozy atmosphere, incredibly kind and attentive staff, and the owner, such a sweetheart, truly lovely. You can really feel the care and love in the whole Ubuntu experience. If you’re in Long Beach, it should definitely be on your list of places to visit. ☕✨”
“Off work early = Sunset Hour = Happy Hour! Parking: They have medium/large parking lot. Finding a parking spot is easy. Ambiance/Environment: This is an outdoor restaurant. I love the decor and setup. They have a good amount of seating. It wasn’t busy when we visited around 16:00, but they did have a dinner rush later on. They also offer live music during dinner! Service: Everyone we encountered was courteous, quick, & efficient. We were checked on multiple times, and throughput was quick after ordering. Food & drinks: They offer a brunch menu, happy hour menu, and dinner menu. Unfortunately, they do not have a full lunch menu. 1) French Toast Latte - I’m a crackhead for caffeine, so of course I ordered a latte instead of a cocktail lol. I enjoyed this latte! It surprisingly wasn’t too sweet. It had a good balance of coffee to sweetener ratio. 2) Great American Cheeseburger - My friend and I ordered this from the Sunset Hour menu. The burger was good and tasted as expected. 3) Fries - Since the burger didn’t come with fries, I ordered some on the side. They were shoe string fries topped with shredded cheese. The fries were also good. Pricing: I can only speak on their Sunset Hour menu. The prices were very cheap. The cocktails weren’t discounted since they were the same price. The Sunset Menu wasn’t anything out the ordinary. The food did the job and tasted good. Will comeback to try their other lattes!”
