“Didn't make reservation so we went to grain bar at back of restaurant. It was crowded but managed to find seats at bar. It was great experience. Bar tender was very friendly and took time to explain all drinks and dishes. All delicious and great drinks! Highly recommend this place!!!”
“I’ve been coming here for a few years now and it has become one of my favorite cozy beachside spots. I usually order the fish tacos with a kale salad and fries, which sounds like a random trio at first, but somehow every single thing hits perfectly. The fish tacos are fresh and flavorful, the kale salad feels nourishing without being boring, and the fries are exactly the kind you keep reaching for long after you’re full. The tacos are on the lunch menu but you can ask for them for dinner as well. The atmosphere always feels relaxed and welcoming, like the kind of place where you can exhale a little. Great food, comforting vibe, and consistently delicious every time I’ve gone.”
“The clam chowder in a breadbowl was the best ive found this side of San Francisco. Topped with real clams in the shell!! Our server, Bill was an absolute sweetheart, really really took care of us and made us feel like family. Gave us honest opinions, checked in often, and had an absolutely stellar attitude. The spicy pina colada (poblano colada) was easily my favorite cocktail. Highly recommend. The grilled leeks were surprisingly super tasty. Everyone really enjoyed all the things they got, from my dad's cioppino to my fiance's seafood risotto (tomato based!) to my cousin's grilled branzino. The brussel sprouts were also really good. Omg and dessert! The hot chocolate chip cookies were so yummy, and the tres leches cake was more like a sundae with how much stuff came on it. In short - definitely coming back for another chowder!”
“Seems to have mixed reviews. We had a wonderful dinner here. Staff was amazing and the food delicious. Started with the pretzel bites, then had brussel sprouts, the patty melt, fish and chips and a steak frites. All were fresh, cooked perfectly and delicious. Had an issue with one entree, waiter immediately took care of it, even explained to the kid that his job was make sure our dinners were perfect. Cake of the month was carrot, and it was heavenly. Only issue was the noise level, hard for me to be a part of the conversation. Restaurant itself is very nice, restrooms could use some love. Easy to see why the place got so busy after the sun went down.”
“Playa Provisions is one of those places that almost requires two separate reviews: one for the daytime and one for the evening. Created by Top Chef winner Brooke Williamson and Nick Roberts, the beachside property brings together four concepts under one roof: King Beach for breakfast and lunch, Dockside for dinner, Grain Whiskey Bar for cocktails, and Small Batch for house-made ice cream and desserts. Last evening: We stopped by Small Batch and ordered the Honey ice cream and Thai Tea ice cream. Both were excellent and flavorful. What makes Playa Provisions interesting isn’t just the food. It’s the setup. The entire property feels different depending on when you visit. During the day, people are stopping in for coffee, breakfast, lunch, or ice cream after the beach. In the evening, the restaurants and bar take over, the lighting changes, and the atmosphere becomes much more intimate. It’s rare to find a restaurant property that gives you so many reasons to come back. You could stop by for breakfast one weekend, drinks another evening, dinner with friends, or simply a scoop of ice cream after a beach walk and have a completely different experience each time. Even if you’re not planning a meal, it’s worth walking through the space. Playa Provisions is one of the more unique dining concepts in the South Bay, and part of the appeal is seeing how all four pieces fit together!”
