“We were in a private room for a wedding party. The service and food was outstanding!!! The parking was a little confusing because we didn't know the area. But the staff explained it to us when we called.”

“The Southern Steak & Oyster quickly became one of my favorite stops in downtown Nashville. I first visited during happy hour to sample the oysters, and the experience was so good that I returned for Sunday brunch—and I’m glad I did! From the moment I walked in, the hospitality stood out. GM Carl was incredibly welcoming and offered thoughtful recommendations that set the tone for the evening. Anastasius added to that warmth with genuine friendliness, making a newcomer feel right at home. Chad deserves special mention because his guidance on oyster selections and technique elevated the entire experience. It’s rare to find staff who are both knowledgeable and sincerely enthusiastic, but this team has it down. The food was outstanding across the board. I enjoyed a wide range of oysters, both raw and cooked. The gumbo was rich and comforting and the BBQ shrimp packed bold flavor! The desserts were exceptional. The chocolate cake, banana pudding, and mixed berry cobbler were all memorable in their own way, each one a perfect finish depending on your mood. Returning for Sunday brunch was absolutely worth it. The atmosphere was lively but relaxed, and a live band added a lovely touch that made the meal feel like a true Nashville moment. Between the hospitality, the genuine friendliness of the staff, and the consistently excellent food, The Southern Steak & Oyster is a must‑visit. Whether you’re stopping in for oysters at happy hour or settling in for a full brunch, you’ll be taken care of—and you’ll eat very, very well!”

“Sam and Jagger were all about ensuring that’s I enjoyed my cocktail at the bar. Jagger even introduced me to a tasty prohibition cocktail. This shall be my new favorite drink. Let’s move to the food. Order the BBQ Shrimp and Cabbage. Both arrived hot and full of flavor. The shrimp needed a little companion. So I added the Gouda Grits. It was at this moment I literally wanted to kiss the chef!! On my way to ladies room, I gave the kitchen a shout to “keep up the great work”. Expo leader, Stas, caught up with me and inquired further. That’s service! He was a great listener, offer other recommendations and invited me back for brunch. I’ll be back for the Cobbler and Crab Cake. You’re doing everything right here. Keep it up.”

“This restaurant is a fabulous place for a great dining experience. I had the opportunity to have Gary as our server and the service he provides is the epitome of what great service is. This establishment went above and beyond with their hospitality and took great care of us but; most importantly they proved to us that they have big hearts here and they truly care about their customers. Highly recommend for food and service!!! And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. “This restaurant had been on our radar for three years, and we finally made it here for a birthday meal—it was absolutely worth the wait! We loved all our food and were very satisfied with the portions. The half-rib meal, in particular, was perfectly filling and definitely enough on its own, so we shouldn't have ordered a gumbo side dish. If you go, be mindful that the main portions are generous! Highly recommend for a special occasion.”
