Nestled in the heart of the French Quarter, Café Amelie serves a rare combination of superb Louisiana fare with classic and pre-trend cocktails, served in a 300-year-old historic building and secret garden courtyard. After opening in 2005, Café Amelie quickly became a favorite of New Orleans locals and tourists alike, who faithfully flock to the café for its delicious food, refreshing cocktails, and Southern hospitality.
“This was the most amazing restaurant I went to on a recent vacation. The service, the food, the people, the atmosphere. Literally everything was perfection. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience I’m already craving around round of braised short rib. I recommend this for everyone who goes to New Orleans on royal. Walked in for the smell of deliciousness came out with a new religious experience!”
“The hype is absolutely real! Café Amelie was the perfect start to my birthday weekend. From the beautiful atmosphere to the incredible food, everything felt special. The gulf shrimp and grits were hands down some of the best I’ve ever had seriously it was rich, flavorful and perfectly cooked. The gumbo was comforting and full of flavor and the cucumber lemon drink was so refreshing in the New Orleans heat. Such a dreamy little spot with amazing service, delicious foodand the prettiest ambiance. Already thinking about the next time I’ll come back. ✨”
“Everything we had was satisfying and delicious. Atmosphere is lovely, a little tight so reservations are probably the best route. The shrimp and grits were one of the better ones we’ve tried in our trip. The waffles of the chicken and waffles were soggy from the sauce, but the sauce is delicious so that makes up for that. The bread pudding was very bready and filling but delicious.”
“Lovedddd the atmosphere. Chose to sit inside but it was very cool and chilly. It was very relaxing. The interior is soooo cozy and cute too. The shrimp&grits and the poutine was very good. The BLT was nothing special but not bad. I recommend for a chill relaxing healthy brunch or lunch while busily touring new orleans!”
“Cafe Amelie is a small place serving up big flavors right in the French Quarter. We had a reservation there during the last weekend of Mardi Gras and we are glad we decided to go here. Checking in was very quick and we were able to be seated without our full party, which we were very grateful for. Our server was patient and understanding with our party size and our requests for changes to our dishes. Ordering was quick and the food came out promptly even with a busy restaurant. We ordered the waffles with a side of bacon, the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream, peeled gulf shrimp, and a bowl of gumbo. The waffle was standard and the bacon was nice and crispy. All three other dishes were fantastic. Starting with the gumbo, easily the best we’ve ever had. Full of savory flavors and spice without being too heavy in one direction; incredibly balanced dish. Likewise, the peeled gulf shrimp were a hit. The shrimp was cooked right and the peppery but sweet flavors came out in refreshing bursts. Lastly, the chocolate molten lava cake was the sweet we needed at the end of the meal, it was decadent. We were pleased with our meal here and thankfully so because we had high hopes when we came in. Between great food and the vintage New Orleans appeal of the inside (add fantastic service too), we feel strongly that Cafe Amelie is a spot you should hit if you’re in the French Quarter and want a great brunch full of Cajun flavor.”
