Greek & Jewish comfort food. Beautiful neighborhood gem located in the heart of Mid City, New Orleans. Smoke & Honey expanded from an in demand pop up to a treasured local eatery. Vassiliki Ellwood Yiagazis was born in Greece, and spent the first seven years of her life there. Her menu draws from her mother and great-grandmother’s traditional Greek dishes, which she blends with Jewish family recipes that she’s learned from close friends and loved ones.
“The BEST gyro in the city hands down. The flavors are unbeatable. I love the staff and the ambience is great. They play carribean music. And don't forget they sell coffee science, which is the best coffee in the city! Get the nebula! The restaurant is on the smaller side. There is some outside seating and a dog bowl for those with pups. Ive had their salmon bagel as well. Top notch! And probably on par with Flour Moon.”
“I've eaten here several times and everything on the menu is solid. However, the gyro platter is absolutely INCREDIBLE. Every component - pita, chicken, tzaziki, veggies, village salad, fries - is perfectly seasoned, and complements each other so well. Just amazing. Casual order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Nicely decorated and so cozy. Staff is very friendly!”
“A fantastic brunch spot. We tried "The Fly Guy" – a bagel with egg, bacon, whipped feta, and it was delicious. Also ordered the classic New York bagel with smoked salmon and chive cream cheese, which was equally good. We went on a Sunday around 11am, and it wasn't overly crowded, and parking was easy. The vibe was chill and enjoyable. Definitely a place I'll be back to.”
“I had high hopes for this place… I ordered the espresso martini and it was nothing more than a watered down Insta coffee drink. They claim espresso concentrate in the drink. However, I watched the bartender put a scoop of nescafé in the drink. That’s a far stretch for “espresso concentrate“ specially, for a place that brewed coffee?!?!. It’s so tiny too…For $15 you can do better… The outdoor garden in the front is an amazing spot to sit. The pop tart was awesome and the bagel with Fig cream cheese was a winner.”
“I stopped by this neighborhood coffeehouse for a takeout breakfast gyro after seeing the reviews and it being close to our Airbnb. The breakfast gyro was good, but odd with the French fries in it. Small indoor area to wait or eat, along with coffee and Greek pastries available. Clean but pricey. I probably wouldn't go out of my way for gyro.”
