Bar Americano is a neighborhood cocktail destination inspired by the famed aperitif bars of Spain and Northern Italy, with a particular focus on fortified wines.
“Has a great neighborhood spot vibe, with a very friendly bar staff that seem to really love what they do. Their menu features a lot of classics that are riffed on with aperitifs and vermouth’s - of which they have an amazing back bar display. I love seeing a bar that really goes deep on one style of drink and does it perfectly. The drinks tend towards the lighter and session-able side, with a the on tap Americano Bianco being my favorite. Happy hour is an amazing deal - I don’t know the last time I paid under $15 for an actually quality cocktail in NYC!”
“Bar Americano is such a great spot to grab drinks when the weather is nice. The inside has a solid vibe, but the real highlight is definitely the outdoor seating. It is the kind of place where you immediately want to linger a bit longer once you sit down. We went during happy hour and it was a great deal. We tried a couple of spritz cocktails and both were refreshing, well balanced, and perfect for an easy afternoon drink. Nothing overly complicated, just exactly what you want in that setting. Overall, this is a great casual spot for drinks, especially if you can get a table outside. I would absolutely come back again. 🍹🌿”
“A cocktail-forward spot, but the food keeps pace. Caught in that limbo between lunch and dinner I stopped in for a quick bite and drink. Positive vibes all around and a sense that everyone was exactly where they wanted to be. They have an extensive drink menu with both alcoholic and nonalcoholic options. The mezcal gimlet was smoky yet slightly sweet with cucumber adding a fresh lift. The jasmine and cucumber fizz was light and floral. For food, I kept things on the lighter side with the hamachi crudo and caesar salad. The crudo impressed—it was surprisingly delicate and finished with a touch of smoked salt. The caesar was classic crisp romaine, just enough dressing to coat without drowning, with crunch scattered on top. The place itself is versatile—date night, post-work drinks, catching up with an old friend, it fits the mood. Next time, I’ll arrive hungry with no dinner plans in sight.”
“Drinks are good (house vermouth, sprits, mocktails). Service is very attentive and friendly enough. However, the % tipping calculation on their payment terminal is on post-tax - so 20% is more like 22%. They also charge a 3% credit card fees without prior notice. Pretty sure it's not legal in NYC anyway. Really not worth breaking customer trust for a few dollars on the bill.”
“Had a waiter (did not get his name because he did not introduce himself to the table. Tall, white, blonde with a mustache) who had a terrible attitude he must of thought he was too cool to talk to us because he only communicated with head nods didn’t say hi or speak at all. Mind you, he was so friendly to a table of women next to us, cheesing ear to ear. He didn’t write anything down which is normally okay but he proceeded to forgot our order and had to check with us multiple times to get it right.”
