Japanese Whisky / Music on Vinyl Orai is a speakeasy bar for those who enjoy music, Japanese whiskey and bourbon. Hip Hop, Soul, RnB, Jazz, City Pop and more is played on vinyl records that fills the whole space through 3 different pairs of loud speakers. For the best listening experience, we have bass traps installed at corners where low frequency buildup and echoes occur. Cloud bass traps in the ceiling and carpet floors reduces the floor-to-ceiling echo.
“Overall rating: 4.6 Came here after a play nearby originally wanting to go to Upstairs. It was 10pm on a Friday so it was def busy. We got the Plum Yuzu HB & Sorrel Remedy which were both drinks were delicious. The bartender was also really nice. He left us alone but still checked in from time to time. It was definitely busy!!”
“Bar Orai is a gem!!! The food is amazing (kimbap and mac and cheese), and the cocktails are insane — everything was so good. Every server was chill and friendly, and their cocktail and whiskey recommendations were perfect. Considering how great my overall experience was, the prices felt more than fair. I will definitely be visiting again soon. 😋”
“I love a listening room! We need more places that play vinyls where I live, this one is top 3 on my list. Perfect for a date night drink, I recommend the Penicillin. The ambiance is everything! So cozy! And can we talk about the matches? How creative!”
“This was my first time at Bar Orai, and I really loved the atmosphere, they even had a DJ playing vinyl, which added a great vibe to the space. One downside is that they don’t accept reservations for groups larger than four, and if you show up with more than four people, they won’t seat you, even if you’re willing to split into two groups. That was a bit disappointing. However, we do respect that. Overall, though, the ambiance is lovely, the food is decent, and the cocktails are well-crafted. They’re not ultra high-end, but the flavors are fresh and appealing. I only had two drinks, which felt a bit rushed, especially since they also have a time limit. Sad. That said, the service was good, the staff was friendly, and the space is small but cozy. I’d definitely come back again.”
“Cool vibe, I like the music and ambiance. Good music and interesting books. Server wasn’t too friendly. I tried the octopus dish and it was weird. It wasn’t bad but it’s not for everyone. I made comment to the server that it was weird, as a joke, and it seemed like he took it offensively. I also wasn’t drinking and I could tell his attitude changed when I ordered a club soda. Definitely didn’t get warm friendly vibes from him. The fried shrimp sandwich was interesting but idk if it’s worth $20. Don’t think it’s a place I need to come back to”
