“Came in yesterday with some friends and sat in the outside patio anrea and had a wonderful time. The patio is a nice little escape hidden away. Our waitress Zoe was amazing and took such good care of us and made us feel right at home. Also she gave us a great recommendation for the bannoffe pie which was delicious. The food was great and the elderflower spritzer was perfect for the weather. Definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a little hideaway on UES”

“As a Brit living in NYC, it is always fun to find a place serving the food I miss most. Jones Wood Foundry is definitely joining my list of acceptable solutions to that hankering. With a true pub feel in its design, you already feel like you are 'back home'. The menu has many expected items like fish and chips, beans on toast, a roast on a Sunday, but there are less famous items but still beloved like Scotch Eggs and a traditional pie of the day, with a suet crust. The chicken and leek pie was outstanding. The crust had all the crunch, density and velvet you'd expect, and the filling was packed with big pieces of chicken, with the leeks all bound together in a rich white wine bechamel. The beans in toast were good too, with poached eggs on top perhaps more of a transatlantic touch than truly British. Definitely coming back!”

“Casual British Breakfast Before the Met Visit We were looking for a British breakfast spot for our early Saturday morning before heading to the Met Museum, and John’s Wood was definitely on our radar. We had done our homework beforehand, so we ordered right away. First up was the Scotch Egg which was egg wrapped in sausage. It was a bit different from what I had in mind, especially the portion size. Overall, it was just okay. We also tried the Fish Burger and Shepherd’s Pie. The Shepherd’s Pie was simple, authentic, and really enjoyable. The Fish Burger, however, was a bit bland for my taste. Overall, it was a decent spot. I’d consider coming back to try their Fish & Chips, maybe next time!”

“Wow, this one hurts. This used to be one of my absolute favorite places in NYC, but coming in today to a new and bare bones happy hour menu and huge price increases all around was beyond disappointing. We went during happy hour and our elderly friend asked for a red wine. When the bill came, I asked why their wine was full price and the waitress informed us only 3 wines were actually on happy hour, and instead of bringing my friend the happy hour red wine, the waitress brought my friend a full priced red, and insisted she ordered that specific wine. This place used to have one of the best happy hours in the neighborhood with $3 tacos on the menu along with multiple menu appetizers and desserts that ranged between $5-8. Now the tacos are gone, all appetizers have increased in price and are only a flat 25% off, and no desserts are included. So a pie that used to be $6 or so is now $14. Also the menu prices have increased - chips are $12 which you have to bed added to an already expensive burger, and food quality alone is very inconsistent let alone the service. Lastly, each menu item has a cash and credit card price, which just feels tacky and reaffirms the nickel and diming new approach. Another tragic NYC restaurant story where regular customers are forced to pay much more and get less. Judging from the relative emptiness of the restaurant, I suspect others have already made the decision that I’m making: go elsewhere.”
