Our menu changes daily, featuring seasonal, simple food with influences from Southern France and Italy. At King, wrote Pete Wells in his 2018 review, “what you really notice is how many little moves they know that can raise a recipe from good to exceptional.”
“First visit to King. The drinks were fabulous, plating of dishes thoughtful, and maybe I sound basic, but knowing temperatures of all components of a dish can go wrong in ten seconds, they hit the mark. The hospitality they give is genuine. I can’t wait to return. You and the team are doing a lot of things right. I can’t wait to return. And I’m ordering the cookbook. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.”
“I enjoyed the small menu and intimate feel of the restaurant. The food feels very homestyle, simple but done well, comforting but not heavy. They can be a little heavy-handed with the salt but it's not too bad, clearly im still rating it 5 stars because they definitely would come back when they rotate the menu. Their made in-house ice cream is incredible definitely some of the best I've had in the city. Really cool wine and spirits list. Ronny made me an excellent drink that I will be back for. Fav was the chicken ,super juicy, the juiciest ive had in nyc, really good beans super simple if anything I might be slightly under underseasoned but I actually love that. Also really enjoyed their panisse”
“I went to King for my birthday and it was truly a special experience. My boyfriend had made a reservation, and from the moment we arrived, the attention to detail was incredible — they even printed a personalized menu with the date of my birthday and a “Happy Birthday” note, which felt so thoughtful and unique. The food was outstanding. Everything we tried was delicious, but the chickpea fritters were absolutely next level — genuinely one of the highlights of the meal. Every dish felt carefully made and full of flavor. I also wasn’t drinking alcohol, and they brought me a non-alcoholic drink so I could still toast, which I thought was such a thoughtful touch and really elevated the experience. The space is beautiful — simple, warm, and effortlessly elegant, which made the whole night feel even more special. Overall, it was an amazing experience. Perfect for a celebration, and definitely a place I’d come back to.”
“We have loved this restaurant for ever! (And would like to send King chefs Jess and Clare special greetings from the Mothership; River Cafe in London, where we are having lunch a the moment. Ruth, Charles and Sian send their continued congratulations for a job well done…across The Pond. For us, you bring the inventiveness, dedication to craft and superlative local products to your restaurant. Thank you! (And yes, I have your cookbook… not your incredible skill of course!)”
“the menu rotates, but all the food was incredible. the best were the chickpea fries (panisse) which were so smooth on the inside and crispy, and the apple tarte tatin. gooey sweet apple and buttery pastry underneath. the roast chicken was also very solid, well cooked with an interesting bread sauce.”
