In partnership with Boka Restaurant Group, Chef Michael Solomonov and restaurateur Steve Cook bring a second location of their beloved Israeli-inspired grill house to Brooklyn. Laser Wolf is an Israeli grill, a pillar of Israeli life and known in Hebrew as a "shipudiya" or "skewer house". Named after "Lazar Wolf", the butcher in the iconic Jewish musical Fiddler on the Roof, the center of Laser Wolf's universe is the charcoal grill, an ancient and pure cooking style that intensifies the flavor of its subjects. Perched on the rooftop of The Hoxton, Williamsburg, Laser Wolf boasts panoramic views of the New York City skyline, a charcoal grill for the prix fixe kebab-focused menu, and, of course, Solomonov’s famed hummus and fluffy pita.
“great rooftop setup and the views are kind of insane, loved the whole skewer spread and the mezze lineup. basically everyone gets an app and its unlimited mezze and it comes with a soft serve dessert. super lively spot with really good pacing, our table kept getting brought new plates and it never dragged. would 100% go with a group or a date with a skyline moment, total gem in brooklyn if you can get a res.”
“I honestly love the whole experience here. Amazing sunset views. Friendly, attentive service. Don’t sleep on the endless refills of their pitch perfect salads including silky, rich ‘real deal’ humus (like you would find in the shuk.) Our lovely waiter let us know that you can order one round of the salads, even for a group, and refill til you drop. Also of note was the whole grilled branzino. So much flavor from the spices and the fire. And after all of that, it was the deceptively humble soft serve with rhubarb and a salty crumble that was my shining star of this show.”
“Great quality food and beautiful views. Went in the winter so imagine views better as it gets warmer. Large area and good temp despite the email notice. Went with friends for Prefix - meat and small bites were all delicious as well as ice cream. Overall was soo good- great service, atmosphere, and food. Seasoning was delicious and recommend”
“I visited this Israeli spot for lunch with a few others a while back. As others have mentioned, you're partially paying for the very nice view, and since it's a hotel restaurant. It was a bit warm at our table, and the friendly staff moved us to a cooler area. To drink, I ordered the Wolf's Fang for $18, a blend of rums, falernum, arak, passionfruit, orange, and oat milk. As described, it was their take on a milk punch, and wasn't too sweet with a bright hint of citrus. I would recommend it. The hummus was good, being thick with a strong tahini flavor, though I have preferred others. Outside of the hummus, the daily salatim included a mix of mostly pickled items. First, there was some pickled cauliflower and carrots with a bit of turmeric. The second salatim was a more unique and spicier pineapple slaw, which was refreshing, and had some herbal flavor from parsley or something similar. The third was a cabbage slaw, which was alright, as I found it a bit too lightly seasoned. The last was a mix of cucumbers, olives, and other pickles, which was standard and tasty. Alongside all of this, the pita was warm and fresh, and the staff refilled everything when we asked. For the main course, I chose the Steak Shashlik, which they spell as shishlik, for $46, which came with tahini and some pickled onions. The steak was tender and well seasoned, and the tahini added a distinctive nuttiness. I especially enjoyed making a mini sandwich with the steak, tahini, pineapple pickle, and pita. Others at the table ordered the Spicy Lamb Kofta and other shashlik options, including Chicken and Trout. In terms of sides, someone got the $15 Fries with tahina ketchup, which they enjoyed. Overall, everyone enjoyed their meal, with no one ordering dessert as a few walked over to the tasty Bertoni Gelato nearby. This place is a tad expensive, but I wouldn't mind going back. Even as a fan of pickles, I wish the salatim were a bit more varied, such as including an eggplant or bean-based mezze. I presume the dinner version is a bit more varied, as there are many more salatim, but they should put a bit more effort into the lunch one as well.”
“Went during the summer without a reservation and managed to snag two seats at the bar with only a 10-minute wait. The views of Manhattan, especially at sunset, are absolutely stunning and set the tone immediately. Food – The French fries were flawless: thick-cut, shatteringly crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned just right. Truly perfect. The mezze plate for two was good but felt like a rip-off. At $40 per person with an “unlimited” setup, you mostly end up filling up on bread. While the presentation was beautiful and a few of the dips were delicious, others were completely skippable. It also felt unreasonable that when a third friend arrived, they wouldn’t allow her to sit with us because of the per-person mezze charge. the soft serve for dessert was absolutely worth it, creamy and refreshing, and the perfect sweet bite on a warm summer night.”
