Midnight Blue, a new type of jazz bar has arrived in Gramercy bringing old New York charm and sophistication to the already lively neighborhood. Just a few blocks away from the beloved Martiny’s and L’Americana, Midnight Blue’s bar program will be curated by the famed Takuma Watanabe paired with Japanese bar bites. At the helm of the music programming, Vito Dieterle, who has over 20 years of experience in both jazz music and hospitality, the perfect compliment to Takuma’s and the team. Band schedule: 1st session starts at 8PM & second session starts at 10:15PM.
“Had an amazing night!! Incredible jazz, immaculate ambience, great drinks, and surprisingly delicious food. We had the karaage and truffle fries topped with nori -- both highly recommend! We walked in around 30 minutes prior to the first set on a Saturday evening (~6:30pm) and got seated right away. There were either seats at the bar for the full two hrs or a table closer to stage for just one hr. One thing to note is there's a music cover fee to enter and a minimum of one order (drinks or food) per person. Enjoy!!”
“Hospitality: 5 stars ⭐️ Cocktails: 5 stars ⭐️ Food: 5 stars ⭐️ This is one of the sister bars of Martiny’s. Japanese-style bar with live jazz. The music was great. I tried the European Dirty Martini, Umeshu salted plum highball. The guacamole 🥑 and gyoza 🥟 are super delicious. Shout out to Leo; he did an awesome job bartending and providing great recommendations. FYI, there is an additional fee for live music. It is worth it 👍🙂”
“This place is a gem — classy yet comfortable. The vibe is great - LIVE jazz! And the izakaya-style food hits too. Great drinks, great music, great service. Perfect for date night or just hanging out with friends.”
“Midnight Blue was a great discovery for me. I was so impressed with the caliber of the bar staff and cocktail creations, a work of art. they put so much care into everything they create. I wish the website highlighted their food, which looked incredible. The band was excellent. Each of the staff created a beautiful solid atmosphere. Probably the best service I’ve had in a bar in a very long time. I hope this place doesn’t get too popular because I loved being able to book a seat”
“Loved the vibe, didn’t love the music. Drums were waaaay too loud and overpowered string bass and piano. also when looking up the band they had brass but didn’t that evening. liked the vegan gyoza option and edamame. cucumber salad inedible - too salty and way too much wasabi. Great service.”
