“I rarely go out of my way to write reviews, but Mikado genuinely earned this one. From the moment I opened the box, the presentation stood out. The packaging is clean, thoughtfully designed, and feels intentional—nothing about it looks rushed or careless. Even the small details, like the neatly packed sauces and ginger, show a level of attention that a lot of places overlook. The sushi itself was fresh, well-balanced, and consistent across every piece. The rice wasn’t dry or overly packed, the avocado was ripe (which is surprisingly rare), and the crab mix had a clean taste without being overly heavy or artificial. Each roll held together properly, which tells you they know what they’re doing in preparation—not just throwing ingredients together. Another thing worth mentioning is portion control and layout. Everything was spaced neatly, easy to handle, and didn’t feel crammed into the container. That might sound minor, but it actually impacts the overall experience more than people think. Flavor-wise, it’s approachable but still satisfying. Whether you’re someone who eats sushi regularly or just occasionally, it hits a good middle ground—nothing too overpowering, but definitely not bland. The ingredients tasted fresh, and nothing had that “sitting too long” feel you sometimes get with takeout. Overall, Mikado delivers on three things that matter most: presentation, freshness, and consistency. That combination is what turns a simple takeout meal into something you actually enjoy and remember. Easy 5 stars. I’d order again without hesitation.”
“Some restaurants make you feel good and welcome. Mikado is such a restaurant. The exuberant decor is cheerful. The staff is friendly and accommodating. When asked about vegetarian options they suggested they could make their tempura all vegetarian. It is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. Judging by the number of take out orders we observed being picked up, it must be very popular. The miso soup 🥣 was excellent. The avocado rolls 🥑 were fresh and delicious. The tempura was perfect. The matcha 🍵 coconut 🥥 pudding was delightfully topped with strawberry and lychees.”
“Cute little place for a quick bite. The food was fresh and the service was good. The location is small, but perfectly comfortable for a weekday meal. The flavors are pretty standard for an American sushi place. The hand roll was served with the seaweed still wrapped and more like a taco than a hand roll, not sure if this is a new fad, but the taste was ok. The decor of the place is cute and welcoming.”
“I treated myself for take-out for the Mikado Deluxe Set and was really impressed with the nigiri quality. My two favorite pieces were the blue fin toro sushi and yellowtail jalapeño which were buttery and melted in my mouth. Each piece ordered had a unique topping like jalapeño or ponzu sauce that really elevated the flavor. Overall, the vibes are great and the staff is super friendly!"”
“We enjoyed our dinner here. Prices are reasonable, especially considering it's quality sushi, ramen, and Japanese dishes. The menu offers a wide variety of items without feeling overwhelming. Our waitstaff were happy to accommodate substitutions and adjust orders. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. Not a lotta options for sushi in this hood so this is a gem.”
