“The food at Mikata was absolutely out of this world—without a doubt, the best sushi I’ve ever had! The enoki mushroom chips are a must-try. They’re unique and unlike anything I’ve had before, but they are SO good. The cocktails were top-notch and perfectly crafted as well. A special thank you to Brian and Julia for providing such a wonderful birthday lunch experience. We will definitely be back and highly recommend Mikata to anyone looking for exceptional sushi and drinks in Atlanta!”

“I cannot say enough amazing things about this restaurant. Great presentation and vibe that made a last minute dinner after the Braves game become a must return spot, less than 10 miles from Truist Park. The space was very clean and had a natural flowing layout with no detail forgotten. If you like sushi, then you will LOVE this sushi. The Red Fantasy Roll and the Orange Tree Roll were delicious and I look forward to trying them all! Hibachi was 10/10 and everything was so fresh. We also had our younger kiddos with us and felt very welcomed from start to finish. They had a kids hibachi option that was perfect portion and kid approved. This was also the kids first time trying sushi because of how good I said it was and they gave it a thumbs up. I should have taken pictures but enjoyed the company, atmosphere and meal so much I didn’t even think about getting my phone out. Service was top notch and the staff were very knowledgeable about the menu, it’s always a good sign to know the staff enjoy the food as well. The complimentary 2 hour parking made navigating this popular location a breeze. I would 10/10 recommend and can’t wait to enjoy again.”

“I picked up an online order. I was in the area and decided to tried them out. I was able to pick up the order in about fifteen minutes which was reasonable. The customer service was excellent and I like the atmosphere of the place. Will definitely go back to dine in. I ordered tuna and salmon rolls. I also ordered hibachi steak and chicken. All were wonderful. Total was about 70 - so that might be a bit pricey for some and I definitely understand.”

“Had the best time at Mikata at the recommendation of a friend. The restaurant was busy when we arrived but the bartender, Andy, made it so we weren’t missing anything by sitting at the bar. The food was fresh and delicious, everything the perfect temperature and came out at the perfect time. But the drinks were the best part! Their signature French 75 was so much better than I even expected and the Japanese Slipper was a great refreshing second drink. My friend had the Lychee martini which was sweet but very well balanced. The rest of the staff was so warm and helpful as well, including Bella. Overall a great experience and I will definitely be returning. Thank you!”

“Unfortunately I can’t get Makata a good review. We came on a Friday night, at 6pm it wasn’t exceptionally busy, but it seemed like several tables were reserved for larger parties so we elected to sit at the bar. This is the moment we should have left, but I wanted to give the restaurant a shot since the reviews are generally positive. As I was watching the sushi being made I could tell the quality and craftsmenship was poor. The sushi is certainly in the “affordable” territory but the rolls were falling apart and most sushi options are a cooked or fried variety. We ordered several rolls and Habachi because we wanted to try to get a feel for what the restaurant had to offer. Food: 1 HIBACHI FILET MIGNON FRIED RICE MISO SOUP MEDIUM RARE 1 CALIFORNIA ROLL 1 SALMON ROLL 1 YELLOWTAIL ROLL 1 RAINBOW ROLL 1 ROCK N ROLL The Habachi came out first. It was cooked well, but I was a bit shocked how small the portions were. It’s was maybe a cup of fried rice and 4 oz of filet with a half cup of stir fried veggies. Most Habachi places give you an extraordinary amount of food, where you’ll usually have leftovers. At $42.00 for an entree I expected more. We had a few bites of the Habachi and waited patiently for the sushi to come out. The sushi chef just handed us the plates. I could immediately tell it wasn’t going to be good. The color, texture, and flavor of the fish and rice was just poor. I’d say it wasn’t even a step up from Publix sushi. Not once during our meal did we get the classic involuntary “head nod”… you know the one you get when you’re tasing something delicious. Drinks: 1 NIGORI MANGO KUKAI (sake) 1 CUCUMBER MARTINI My wife enjoyed her cocktail. The sake was 6-7% alcohol in a bottle that is probably 250mL, for $30. I don’t believe the alcohol percentage or volume is advertised on the menu. It was tasty, but certainly not worth $30. Service: It started off strong with a “moist” napkin delivered by the manager. And after that the quality of service quickly fell apart. (Benign errors) - We didn’t get any dinner napkins or silverware. - Never were we asked if we needed anything or if we were enjoying our meal… Just standard customer service things, we’re absent. - Most importantly ***Don’t sit at the bar***, the severs will literally reach above and around you and your food to grab food from the sushi bar. They will also aggregate behind you while you eat, and have discussion right behind you. Truly an unpleasant experience. Ambiance: It’s nice, and what drew us into the restaurant. Vibe is upscale. Ultimately I can’t recommend Makata, both the service and food left a lot to be desired. Our total bill was $167 before tip and we left quite unsatisfied.”
